When did weaken armour get changed?

When did weaken armour get changed to give you cracked armour?I am not sure if this is a good idea for those in post Ascalon with pre armour on and hardly any condition removals around there.
Turbobusa
wont lower your armor below 60 anyway, so it doesnt affect anyone in early post searing.

Anyone else find it ironic that you can get the skill from the first city in Prophecies, and it does absolutely nothing until after you ascend?

i got cracked armor in prohecies for necro role but how good is it on monsters to get to deal more damage as opposed to increasing one's DPS
thx

If your DPS is armor-based (so you will deal less damage to AL 80 than AL 60), then Cracked Armor is usually better. But if you have armor-ignoring damage or life stealing, more DPS is better.
And even on monks it's good - Cracked armor makes SoR give only +20 armor and it also affects shields.

the DPS i am refering to is the regular/power sword attacks. is this a armor based attack or not. I am W/E or W/N. if i was to use curse spells with my W/N will use more energy than the conjur attack spells for my W/E build since as a warrior my energy is limited?

txs Don't use curses as a warrior. You can get away with using conjures, but not really curses. I mean, I'm not throwing out the possibility that there may be a good curse spell for a warrior, but I certainly haven't seen it, and I doubt that this is it.

1 - Armor rating effects damage received under an equation that means that an increase of x armor points will always equate to a y% reduction in damage* regardless of the AL you started at. So this wouldn't be too bad.
2 - More importantly cracked armor will never drop your AL below 60. Meaning that characters in low level armors are simply immune to its effects.
So the creatures with it are likely to spend 2 seconds casting a spell that does nothing. It might be better for ANET to simply remove it from their skill bars.

Since the original question was " When did weaken armour get changed to give you cracked armour?"
The answer is, when EotN was released, a couple of skills that used to reduce armor by 20 were modified to just give the condition, now you can't stack them to make that warrior wear paper

The change to WA is pretty neutral. In some situations, it's better, in some it's worse. I hadn't realized it's available in Ascalon, that kinda makes it even more useless for a while.
Either way, the spell stinks for PvE.
They really need to make it AoE/adjacent. Because otherwise it simply is never going on any PvE skillbar ever. If it was AoE, it would be a worthy addition to a SS bar.

It's useful in areas where you're not fighting many enemies, but small groups of powerful ones like Hell's Precipice or vanquishing the 4 man Ascalon areas

Even then, I'd rather take ele secondary and use Shell Shock (or give it to a hero if I'm using my secondary).

Why spec into air when a SS is already specced into Curses?
I keep all m N/RTs for Deathpact which is way better

I keep all m N/RTs for Deathpact which is way better Because WA just sucks compared to shell shock. Shell shock cast faster, and deals armor penetrating damage, which is a pretty nice side effect.
IMHO this spell is just useless.
Put it on a 3/4 cast and 3 recharge (and halves the duration of craked armour, it won't stay 17 seconds anyway), so it's a cover condition spell, and we're talking.

it could be usefull if they capped armor @ 40 instead of 60 and use the skill with epidemic or fevered dreams or something like that
