Hey,,

So I've heard that ID'ing white stuff will make me earn money faster, I was wondering if that's really true, and if it's enough to really make a difference..??

Thx in advance,

It works for level 15+ areas. So it's not worth it in starter areas.

If you use regular ID kits, then you need only 4g price increase on average to improve profit.

White unided items usually sell for 54g or so at most, IDing them can push the price over 100g. It's possible to almost double the value of white items this way, exact difference depends on area.

A superior id kit costs 500g and has 100 charges. At a measely 10g added per id, you already regain double your investment per kit. And this assumes that you only use it on whites.

Don't waste your time on drops from newbie areas. The increase in gold doesn't offset the ID price.

ID kits are only 100g last time i checked so you should make some good profit within 25 uses. You only have to make atleast 4 extra gold from the items to of made abit more. It slowly adds up aswell besides a couple of gold is better tahn nothing right?

True, but in lowbie areas you only get a 2-5 more gold per white so IDing there isn't worth it.

Also, buy the superior ID kits because the 1gp per ID is worth not having to run to the merchant as often, and takes up less space.

Another good tip is to ID the runes that you remove from armor. A superior rune that is selling at the rune trader for 25 gold will increase in value to a random amount of between 100 and 200 gold, and major runes will go to 50-100. Minors aren't really worth the trouble.

In hard mode and high end NM areas, there's no question that the increase in price offsets the 5g to ID.

I think it said somewhere on wiki if the weapon is below 15g without ID'ing you won't make a profit, above you can.

Ah here it is

Ok, maybe I should have searched myself first, before I started asking...

sentient seeds (3) of them will get you a FREE 25 pak of an ID kit. If you know where to farm you can get tons of whites and free ID kits like me. No wonder people are broke all the time they waste money on ID kits. I haven't bought an ID kit in so long I forgot how much they were 400gp right for 100?

Small tip: I used the "battle commendations" I earned from my NF quests to transform them into ID kit in Sunspear Great Hall. Overall it spares a few golds, but accumulated with the few golds you earn ID'ing whites, it sums up.

Same for Expert Salvage Kit, I get them (or the superior ones) using the special collectors.

I'll cheefully pay 500g (IDing one inventory's worth of stuff usually gives me 1 to 1.5 platinum, after all) not to have to farm for collector's items. I can't imagine the tedium involved.

Only id white items if they're close to max, or are max.
