For a while now I have had a dire pet because I figured it would be best for pvp because dire=high dmg. But now that im know more then I did when I started i began thinking..the point of a pet in pvp is not to do dmg unless you are running a beast master (and I wont..ever) so isnt it better to get the most survivability out of a pet via hearty/elder? A dire pet is the equivilant of running a sup rune on your pet. So my question is are my feelings misplaced and im just worrying too much or is it better for me to get a elder/hearty pet. and if dire is a bad route would elder or hearty be better? Thank you in advance for taking the time to answer my question.

A lot of folks think that elder/hearty is more desireable now because of the high damage skills available as only the base damage fluctuates, even for a pure beastmaster. Personally I like elder as it offers the most flexibility without drawing unwarranted AI attention like the dire can due to it's lower health.
