"On Distant Shores of a Land Unwaking..."
The Pocky Alchemist
...I can't be the only one wondering about this.
Warning! This post concerns spoilers to a specific Asuran quest arc, which culminates in The Path to Revelations.
Info about the quest here. I'm one of the players who cracked the ciphertext by hand. I really, reallly, really want to know if there's anything in the gameworld tying into this that I haven't come across yet.
I would love being able to think that the game changes. I would love to think that hey, maybe I can actually take Light of Deldrimor outside of dungeons, maybe down into the Fissure... maybe the world has been altered since GW:EN was released. That'd add an awesome degree of realism to the game: the possibility that there could still be secrets.
So I guess I'm asking if anyone has seen anything particularly cool, something that might be connected with this annoying little promise of ANet's?

What about that island in the far north of the map no1 can travel to
Nightow
Didn't one of Anet's staff say that we'd have to wait until GW2 for the answer?
Aubis
Wish we could find out whats on that island be the oppsite of fire islands
mrmango
They wouldn't put in a secret imo, it's just not like Anet.
And they most likely aren't going to release new things.

Seriously though... if you really don't think it's ANet's style, who would have the guts to pull something like that?
mrmango
Nintendo? =P
It's just too much of wishful thinking to expect Anet to release more GW1 stuff after the BMP because they are focused on GW2.

This is most likely something in GW2 (It makes me think of Orr but it could also be Cantha its talking about). If not GW2 it will be in some kind of BMP offer in the future. It sounds alittle too big to be a minor thing (Especially as it will probably reveal mroe about the gods)
I put my money on a GW2 plot line.

Maybe this ties into a theory I had a while ago.
Before EotN came out, there was the nice map update to Tyria and I thought the big fire island in the NW was where we'd fight the Great destroyer. I was proved wrong.
I later got to thinking, maybe we'll fight Primordus there? And maybe this hints as to how we'll beat him? It's a bit far fetched, but you never know what to expect from Anet--other than horrible nerfs.

...j/k j/k don't kill me.

We're talking about a one-to-two year delay, here. Even without explicit content updates, I would love to have a mystery to solve.
Giga Strike
dang, nice job with this!
ok, my 2 cents:
i think that this message hints towards the sylvari in some way. "...beyond the dreams" makes me think that there is something behind the sylvari's "dream of dreams" that opens up a path to a deeper understanding of the world of tyria.
"...a land unwaking" could be a land that hasn't evolved from primordial/prehistoric times. a land where ancient creatures roam the earth. the tarnished coast has dinosaurs and is also the place where the sylvari will enter the world.
"beyond the mists..." leaves me guessing whether or not this is something that has been revealed to us already.

Sounds like 1 of 3 things:
Orr.
Utopia reference.
Place we can't get to and won't learn about until GW2.

Mordakai
All the references to dreams and unwaking...
could be hints of the Sylvari?
(SPOILER: The Sylvari are connected by "The Dream of Dreams...")

"Distant Shores, Land Unwaking, Beyond the Mists (of Time)"
Such phrases are often used for the FUTURE in a literary context.
I think it is a reference to the Future, basically GW2. Not to a certain place.

I may be wrong, but that "Beyond the mists.." line reminds me of something I read about PvP being world bases and differnt worlds fight for teritory in the mist or something of the sort. I am also wanting to find out what is on that island to the north of Kryta in that big bit of water, you know, its east of the north Shiverpeaks and has notthing about it.

Hmmm, this thread reminded me of something. The God's Facets were Dragon shaped. Dragon's are the main enemies of GW2. There are people being able to relate the dragons to the gods (as "opposites"). Perhapes this somehow gives a hint that the gods and the dragons really are connected? Just a thought I had.

And I wouldn't doubt that the Facet's were dragon shaped because they were almost exact replicas of the facets in the Dragon's Lair mission in Prophecies. That mission revolved around you killing some facets to gain an audience with Glint, a prophet of sorts--in case you didn't know or don't remember.
Yeah, I'd bet that it's just reused models/skins for facets, not something to do with the dragons in GW2.

Anyway, while that quote "Distand shores of land unwaking" could easily point in the jade sea's direction. When put beside the other 3 quotes, it sounds more like it is talking about future events.
If the spirit is refering to future events in Tyria as a whole (GW2), chances are it is talking about orr or the crystal desert . Desert generally beign considered dead -} unwaking.
If the spirit is refering to the jade sea, that would mean a future event will come out of nowhere from Cantha. In which case we have no information and cannot extrapolate anything.
The information revealed so far point toward the first option.

I think I read it from somewhere that Jade Sea is returning into water again, and Echovald Forest is getting some more living plants in there. So, they are awakening... >>

whoo there is somethin cool but u have to wait almost 3years but it will be totally super duper awesome..
i think there is no secret waiting in gw1 -.- maybe bahltek and cairn of stones ..but i think anet dont have use for them..maybe they had in past but now whoo working on gw2
Gmr Leon
I think Bahltek still retains his mystery and importance GW, but I don't think we need to wait until GW2 to get the answers in relation to him.
As to the Cairn of Stones..I think those are simply easter eggs or representative of the harsh environment.

As for what has been said above -the connection between dragons and gods-, I wonder...
In greek mythology, the gods descended from the titans wich created the world (only gaïa did actually), and the gods, seeing the havoc that the titans caused, chained them in the tartare (undeground prison in hell), so im thinking... Is it possible that there is a similar scenario in GW?
Could the gods descend from the ancient dragons? or is it the other way around? Better yet, theres little proof that the Ancient Dragons arent actually The Old Gods!
Guildmaster Cain
I've been saying that for a while. Not a bad idea, considering Glint was the first being created by the gods. And what god would not create his first follower their own image?

Original Pantheon, by the way, would have looked something like this:
Abaddon
Balthazar
Dhuum
Dwayna
Lyssa
Melandru
