Hey
As of the moment (around 4pm GMT) I have a few alliance members from the US suffering HORRIBLE lag, of 10k+ pings. I spawned into Umbral to find a few people just got disconnected. Seems like a small handful, but just wondering if anyone else is having this problem?
Curious as to lagging and DCing at the moment...

Yeah this seems universal. People seem to think Anet are playing around with bonus-pack files?

By the way, that was me. Still experiencing it - not at the very moment, but I was roaming around a random GH and had up to 23k ping (I was with MrSlayer and another alliance member which I CAN'T spell the forum name correctly to save my life =____=).
I almost lagged out in Slaver's Exile (was doing Thommis and Rand), was explicitly told to remove viruses from my computer >_>. Someone lagged out and came back during the run too.
I switch between American and Euro regularly, was in American last night, in Euro this morning. Both had lags.

11:10-11:15 am est My ping is between 150 and 1100+.. average ping of 1100+ and slight warping
Besides, don't you all know by now that it's all of our connections fault and not anets' servers? I mean, how many times have you told anet support that they are having lag issues for them to tell you it's your connection and to deny anything wrong with their servers. Then a few days later for them to do some repair on their servers, yet it's still your connection... come on...seriously guys. It all our faults!! (Yes I hate anet tech support cause of this)

Anyways, my IMs are working fine, my browser is working fine, vent is working fine. It's what I usually run along with GW and my average ping is between 150-300, which is completely normal. But when you have people in UK, Canada and USA saying that they're disconnecting and having mass lag spikes ONLY ON GW, I wouldn't blame it on their connection.
"Well, just lost survivor at 1,300,684 xp...due to lag."
Aw, man, that really sucks big time. I don't see why Anet can't look at a person's account log, if one sends them a report ticket, and reverse a death if the log legitimately shows it was due to lag. Or do the logs not include info on lag/ping/connection?
I'm terrified of the same thing happening to me now that I'm getting close to that point.
In the recent thread about lag issues, many people claimed it wasn't due to Anet's servers but to internet traffic in general, one's ISP, the number of hops to Anet's servers, etc. I, for one, don't totally buy that argument.
I live about 120 miles from Anet's servers in Los Angeles and, near as I can deduce from traceroute, they're only 4 hops away.
This week-end was a nightmare; starting with the special event on Thursday, it just kept getting worse over the next fout days until, by Sunday afternoon, if not actually unplayable, it was definitely not a situation where I was going to risk working on my survivor. And I even had Sat and Sun off for a change, and had been looking forward to putting in some extra time on that char. By early Monday morning, things seemed to be pretty much back to normal.
Anet says they recently passed 4.5 million copies sold so that would indicate there are a greater number of new people playing. Sounds to me like the additional players are putting a strain on the servers' capacity. Would make sense for Anet to invest in a couple new racks of blades to lighten to load.
