FoW shards

So here I am, an elementalist, doomed to wear ugly armor...or so I thought. I've seen the light! Well actually I've seen the obsidian armor and I want it! The problem is I just completed Prophesies and have only been playing for a couple of months so my knowledge is lacking.

I've read the boards like a good little gamer but most of the posts about farming shards and ectos assume you already know what they are talking about.

Is there anyone who can explain the basics of farming FoW and supply a good elementalist solo farming (henchies and heros ruin drop rates right?) build for it and how to use the build in FoW? I don't care what secondary it requires, Ill go and get it although I'm thinking e/a and e/m are the best. That's what it sounds like. e/a seems neat anyway.

Finally, I know ectos come from the underworld. Ok, where is the underworld. By underworld do you mean tomb of primeval kings? Do I need a different build for uw then what I need for FoW? If so, what build to solo farm uw, and how to use it.

Temple Of Ages (Tyria) and Zin Ku Corridor (Cantha) and Chantry Of Secrets (Elona) are all access points to both UW and FoW. You have to /Kneel (the emote) at different shrines and talk to the spirits that pop up. The entrance fee is 1k.. Sorry, I can't help you with ele solo, Iv'e only done W/Rt.. W/Me.. and Rt/Mo..

i never really tried ele farming, dunno if a build could handle the spider cave

if you have a warrior character, you can farm the place very easily in NM and get quite a good number of shards

There you will find many builds. The best ele build for uw(The fastest, but not the safest) is the UW Smite Run (that's what they call it on the list).

For FoW: There is the E/R build, but with the recent Glyph of Swiftness, you can go / monk now
