I suspect it's because PvP content is player generated, meaning it's easy on the ANet programmers. Furthermore, things like faction points go along w/ grinding-type gameplay, which is a timesink involving already existing content. Basically, it's an event which requires little, if any, effort on Anet's part.

It's annoying for the average PvE player that wants to work on the kurzick/luxons skills without doing AB (or FFF for that matter).

btw, with regards to the AB weekend...
you cannot say anet is forcing pvp on you, because AB is pve. reason being that AB, like pve, can be farmed for a profit. in AB, you farm noobs and get paid on amber/jade. as such, AB should be considered pve.

believe it or not, some people like to farm factions. That may be not the way you play, but some people do. They deserve a week end from time to time just as everyone else.
IDC about 2x fame weekends, I dont like HA either, doesn't mean I'd like them removed.

ab is pvp, hence u cant use pve only skills there or such

Oh good.. now I can continue working on getting the alliance title so I can finally get the pve only skill... Its something I don't bother about until we get a weekend like this

I don't care about what might seem 'cooler', wether it be Kurzicks or Luxons. It's just a game mode and I play it whenever I want. Little kids who like insulting the other team are annoying and dumb. Unfortunately there's more Luxons than Kurzicks fitting the description. So meh, your pick if you want to wait 5 minutes longer before you can start, or get bunched up with loudmouthed (but decent playing) kids.

AB is really fun.
If you make a team with the specific intent to survive a base defender's attack, and then you recall in and camp and kill everything.
Honestly, that's all I ever do in AB.

Also keep in mind that 2 weekend EVENTS (not the same as weekends) could have occured at the same time (ie, there could have been a double faction weekend going on at the same time as a Christmas weekend).

I still think Faction needs to be able to be gained from killing stuff after speaking to dudes at the Luxon/Scum rez shrines, basically in the same way SS/LB/Norn/EV/Asura/Dwarf points are awarded, just that they add onto your faction amount instead of a title. I think something like this has already been implemented, but it should be a free bonus.

There are no "servers". That's an old wives' tale. Nothing more.
Gaile has said many times on this forum that there are limitless instances for AB just like in RA or any pve area. I don't know why people STILL stick to this belief. All you have to do to confirm this is true is look in both sides' waiting areas. Last time I looked there were 14 Kurz groups of four and only 2 Luxon. This imbalance happens all the time.

For people complaining it is "yet another PvP weekend"...remember PvE gets the larger events such as Wintersday - that usually lasts for a week or two? I actually think the spread is pretty good. I don't go for the PvP weekends (with the exception of the Faction-based ones). If there was a high-demand PvE event every weekend, I would spend too much time participating in the event, and noe enough time playing the game, and helping others. PvP weekends generally come as a welcome break to me.
I used to think that. But it doesn't take that long to get into an AB match, even if you're in a Deep Luxon / Kurzick territory. When the Luxon/Kurzick PvE skills were first released I'd not donated any faction. So I started doing Luxon quests I'd left and spent hours accumulating 50,000 faction toward the title. Well, I got bored of that after hours and hours of doing the same quests, so tried some AB and made up the rest in a few hours.
AB seems to almost "favour" one side then the other though. It always semeed to me that when the battle is in Kaanai Canyon, all the good Luxon Players come out after a while for some easy wins, and fight it back to Ancestral Lands. After a while of being in Ancestral Lands the better Kurzick players come out of the woodwork and beat it back to Kaanai...and the circle continues. At least, it's always seemed that way to me, because either our side consistently does well, or consistently loses.

What AB's REALLY need, are new maps. I'm tired of the same maps over and over... even a different shrine set-up or just changing the NPC's themselves (to something which could be called a 'meta'... or just basically all the cookie cutter builds being run) would do -.-

Let see, some players complain that Factions Points are hard to get with cap at 10 mil, Then Anet gives us the double factions weekend, now, this is bad because why?? Just can't please every players...
