About bone minions. Their icon looks like little spider things, but when you raise them they are actually just mini bone horrors. What gives?

Also, who thought it was a good idea to have an entire party drop dead when everyone types /resign ? That just doesn't make any sense to me. "Hey! We just beat this extremely difficult dungeon. Now let's go back to town!" "Ok"

*Party types /resign and drops dead*

Does that indicate victory to you?

1) Yeah, I guess they just didn't think that one through. :P

2)Because /resign is usually used as surrender, which is why the team dies. People use it in PvE to get the entire party back to the original place in one piece.

Surrender doesn't always mean death.

In GW, when you fail a mission or type /resign, you die a pseudo death. It's just the way the game is.

You can wait, if you fully complete the dungeon, a timer will come up, I think its like, 3 minutes right? I know it does that for Murakai's dungeon.

1.) Lol, yeah they're weak Bone Horrors that's all.

2.) Another way of putting it is type /giveup and it does the same thing, but that states that you 'giveup' and not just resign and they also forgot to give character TP's. For you non-Diablo 2 players those are 'Town Portals'.

It was probably more time efficient to have everyone typing resign trigger an auto party death, which in turn returns you to the outpost.

The use of the bone horror graphic for bone minions and vampiric minions was also another time-saving step. If I had to guess, the original intent was to have a different graphic for each, but ANet never got around to it...

Does it really matter? I think you're a little too into it or something.

The whole point of the resign command was so that your party could travel back together without having to manually map out, meet up and reform. Job done.

I had this same issue...well still do...but anyways i took matters into my own hands with this. I drew up some redesigned minions, vampiric horrors and even made up a few new ones. i'll have to post those once I get my scanner working again.

This might actually make sense if you're using the "cultist" henchmen

Well, someone who is good with texmod could possibly put out a .tpf that reskins bone minions and vampiric horrors so they look like their skill icons.

Just throwing this out there...

The skill icon is a scarab. I would assume that they wanted to make sure that you didn't confuse the skill with the "animate bone horror" since they share the same skin. Scarabs are mostly necro's and tend to die quickly relying on their numbers to be useful. I suppose there is some symmetry there and creating a whole new character is expensive compared to a skill icon (and the skill makes sense in what it creates). They had to pick something visually very different from Animate Bone Horror and the skill makes sense animating the same skinned minion.

Of course, there are MANY other skills where the skill icons do not make total sense - with 1500+ skills and the need to have them all visually distinct this is always going to be the case. It kinda sucks, but such is life.

Hold on here, you complain about the bone minions yet want giving up to be a victory dance? Then intention there is isn't to only skip the timer at the end of a dungeon - it is to resign. As per dictionary.com:

1. to give up an office or position, often formally
2. to submit; yield: to resign before the inevitable.
3. to give up (an office, position, etc.), often formally.
4. to relinquish (a right, claim, agreement, etc.).
5. to give or sign over, as to the control or care of another
6. to submit (oneself, one's mind, etc.) without resistance.

and you want anything other than a show of defeat? You sure you are all for that whole consistency thing or just want your random musings to be Law? Having your party go through the dieing sequence is *exactly* in line with what the emote means - though I do like the "exploding party" idea (especially if we can turn on Extreme Gore and Gibbets).

See above as to what "resign" means - does that indicate victory to you? Were it up to me (and your whole consistency thing) then resigning would mean the quest/dungeon failed to complete.

Who cares? It's only a game. Closed.

EDIT: Because of a complaint, I closed this thread because it's pretty pointless and already answered anyway. The resign part has been brought up a couple of times. As far as the skill icon goes, it's how they designed it.
