Heres my idea for stopping retards with bots. Beat them to it. On the Anet store offer gold for sale. Have it a decent price, add a /money command that will kick in like /bonus (or what ever it was for asura minis) and then all the bots are out of luck. The ammount of time spent on bots and trying to sell them if they drop the prices (bots that is) wont be worth it anymore vs what anet achieves in the long run.
Now before you start trying to flame saying I want to buy money I never have and never will, esp from bots. But people will buy it and why not let Anet make the cash on it.

But its already this way, except the money is going to people with bots. There are people offering but your account now for the soul purpose of selling gold. I understand the arguement that it will make it possible for anyone to buy anything. But they can already do this. My idea isnt to ruin the game its to take the money away from the people ruining the game and put it to good use.

give all items in GW fixed sell and buy prices at NPC's...this way all the inflated stuff in GW will decrease to normal prices. This way botting becomes senselss, because you won't be able late anymore, to sell your botted stuff for insane inflatious prices, because anypone can buy the stuff also at the npc... resulting also, that buying anything from players becomes sensless, unless they sell stuff for lesser money, then the Buy Price, when the price of that Seller is still a bit over the Sell Price of the NPC ...

or keep furterh banning any bots, that gets found ..but that will nothing change, nor seems this to be a hard enough punishment, to prevent botting and this way will take ages, before players will end botting, unless anet gives the game system maybe a program or so, that can effectively detect accounts, which try to log on with a bot program and deny access to the game, so logn the bot programs are active running *if this is somehow possible*
imagine: A server, who recognizes by itself alone, when someone is botting and will log that botting accoutn automatically off and then gives this account so long no access to the game anymor,e until the bot program got closed.
Meanwhile, while that account got logged of, the system of the game will safe up the information of that account, inclusive IP Adress ect...
and now the clue ...
When this IP Adress appears on a Bot List then a certain times in, the accoutn will get then automatically banned.
A game, that cleans itself from botters XD that would be cool *g*, just by a iname program, that detects automatically, when an account logs in over any 3rd programs that are against the EULA

There are some points I agree with legion rat : I think the problem exists now, and all Anet achieves is to hide it underground, deeper and deeper. I am convinced people (today) are sellign gold for $$$ and hiring pro players to level characters.
It seems similar to making booze illegal (we tried that in the USA), or saying that because drugs are illegal nobody does them.
So today we can BUY the skills to be unlocked. I just did for $24.95 (all of them). So my pockets just got my heroes what other players don't have. There. Game advantage for real money exists today, and ANet is selling it.

Your idea has been brought up before. Whether people agree with it or not is more opinion based than anything. Arguments against it on the basis of inflation are kinda funny though. The inflation that they are screaming against has already happened. Many have used botted gold to fund themselves and arguments to the contrary are funny. Every online MMO has bots selling in-game currency. Removing them from Ebay didn't stop it at all, hardly slowed it down.
It's still not very likely to happen. The facts are scrutinized by what people think is "right". Some justify bots vs publisher gold sales with the logic that the bots are actually playing the game(ie a service) to get that gold legitimately so that means no inflation to them. The only way to have no inflation is to have a set static amount of circulation in play. This is an even bigger obstacle that I don't think is gonna happen either.

You want to stop the bots, by adding a buy money feature for the game. Yea, can't the bots just buy money off of the GW store or whatever. Bots farm, people pay for bots, doesn't this mean people will pay for golds and still have bots? This game, itself, is meant for people to play on their freetime. The only real reason socialism failed is because a currupt group of people ruined it. As the game sellers (program) and the merchants can not become currupt (ok maybe with a virus) they cant go, "well Freakedout Fish, you can have a salvage kit but it will be 10k for the love of Mother Tyria. "
I am not saying this is a great solution but it is one. The programming required to rework areas to make it hard on bots, or removing the heros is not as feasable as a gold dealer in anets store.
