Ritualists: King of Gimmick Builds
TGgold
Hey there fellow Ritualist Lovers!
Has there ever been a time when you're playing your Ritualist and just want to have fun? Is there ever a time when you don't particularly CARE about being "100%" efficient? Perhaps you're going for Skill Hunter, and have all of these elite skills you don't think you'll ever get a chance to use! Perhaps you got a nice drop and thought to yourself, wow, I wish that I could use this weapon because it's damn sexy! (And not just use it for its mods!)
Well, fear not! I propose a challenge to all those, like myself, who adore the Ritualist for its supreme versatility. When the game seems to get boring, why not try making up some interesting new builds to feed your obsession?! Yes, this, my friends, is what I want to become a sort of reference for different Gimmicks. Post builds if you want, or just strange little combinations!
I'll do my best to keep this as updated as possible for when I make more progress on my own little experiments.
Please Try NOT to include:
~Well Known Spirit's Strength's Builds
~Builds that do NOT focus around a "gimmick".
Builds TO include:
~Ways to use another Profession's Sexy Weapon/Offhand
~Ways to use another Profession's Elite Skill/Spell
~Ways to creatively use PvE Skills!
Please keep the flamebait OUT of this thread. If you see a build that you can improve upon in the spirit of this thread, then by all means do so. If you don't agree with the build at all and think that "Rits should just spam Splinter and Ancestor's" then this isn't a thread for you!
Now let the games begin!
My Projects:
Rt/W - Dragon Slash Rit (don't know where this is going...), Triple Chop Rit
Rt/Mo- Attuned was Songoki Monk(still figuring out where to go with this)
Rt/Ranger- Splinter+Volley, Beast/Weapon Master
I'll post more specifics when I have the time!

I'll post more specifics when I have the time! Take summon skills (like ice imp and assassin) And do splinter and anchestor to assassin when he teleports to foes.
You CAN'T say that isn't creative using of pve skills.

This is purely a funny build, and its still in its infant stages.

Just stick with resto, although prot spirit and veil are interesting and can't be replaced by anything in resto line

Has anyone tested seeing what using Weapon of Quickening does to increase the effectiveness of the summon spells? I haven't really tested to see how well they use their skills yet, but it may be interesting.
Also, maybe Brutal Weapon on the Vanguard Assasin? Signet of Ghostly Might? (I have yet to see if it works on THESE summon creatures). Brutal+Sig of Ghostly Might = ~35 Extra Damage on your Vanguard Sin. Maybe Do this inside of the Ebon Vanguard of Wisdom with a 20/20 set, and have a pretty high chance of having only a 5 second downtime. I don't know, but it seems kind of fun if you have a high Ebon Rank.

With high powered spammable heals, and PS being brough down to 5e, I think it could be interesting. Maybe even Reverse Hex could be interesting (since Rits lack hex removal, and reverse would only be 5e under AwS).
Before I just had an Rt/Mo spamming things like Heal Other, Jamei's Gaze, and Prot Spirit, but I know I can do better. It was just for a "skills that are useually too expensive for monks to spam" test.

I had fun in RA with this a few months ago, I posted it on the forum. But seeing as you're asking for fun builds:
[card]Grasping Was Kuurong[/card][card]Cruel Was Daoshen[/card][card]Weapon Of Warding[/card][card]Ancestors' Rage[/card][card]Rupture Soul[/card][card]Destruction[/card][card]Swap[/card][card]Death Pact Signet[/card]
Spawning Power: 11
Channeling: 12 + 1 + 3
Restoration: 6
The usage goes like this:
Use CWD early on, it has a short recharge and a long duration.
Place the Destruction outside of the battle but near enough to cast on, then run in.
Cast CWD again next to an enemy, you will drop the first item, hit Ancestors', then GWK dropping the second item, then Swap with the Destruction Spirit (which drops the third item) and immediately Rupture it.
The whole process does 429 damage plus anything up to 150 from Destruction (and damage from AR if you need it), a knockdown, leaves you outside of the battle by the end and most enemies blinded.
Most of all, its really fun.

Right now the rit dragon slash build looks like:
[skill]Dragon Slash[/skill][skill]Sun and Moon Slash[/skill][skill]Nightmare Weapon[/skill][skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill]Whirlwind Attack[skill]"For Great Justice!"[/skill]Vocal was Sogolon[skill]Death Pact Signet[/skill]
Nightmare is there to use before Sun and Moon Slash for some fast healing/damage. Whirlwind attack + splinter is sexy, also it gets you some decent adrenaline. You need to cast Vocal was Sogolon, use FGJ!, and drop your ashes as fast as possible. At 9 resto, it extends FGJ! to 28 seconds. So, basically you want to Spam Dragon Slash while you have it up. Since you can't get to 14 swords, you need to attack once after Dragon Slash to recharge it again. It would be wise to splinter yourself before the combo, OR get a friend to use Great Dwarf Weapon if they have a good rank. (+34 from Dragon Slash + 20 from Great Dwarf Weapon is pretty cool).
Really, armor here is the issue. +15under a weapon spell would probably be ideal. Armor mods on the Sword, and an Armor Mod on your offhand would be ideal. (The Paineater) Maybe work in Great Dwarf Armor somewhere into the build. Obviously you'll need a decent monk to support you.
~~~
My current idea needs a Rit Duo using Great Dwarf Weapon (longer duration because of spawning) on each other, then Spirit's Strength as the Elite. One would probably be a Rt/P and the other a Rt/A so the Rt/A can Ebon Escape to the Rt/P if need be.
I'll post more later.
EDIT:usage is kinda steady,but i cast AR on the spirit then tele
its got the spiking potential of an assassin but energy is EXTREMELY rough
EDIT 2:btw can anyone tell me the true meaning of gimmick?i thought it was just something about copy+pasting peoples stuff and it goes overboard on "woot this build owns"
An Attuned was Songkai "monk" ritualist should probably use expensive abilities like Heal Party and Extinguish, much like the elementalist template. Energetic was Lee Sa would help with the downtime of Attuned was Songkai.
As for a new "gimmick" build... don't know. I just run a typical channeling build in PvE with offering of spirit and I'm fine with that.
Well.. this is my idea for Splinter Volley that you are working on.
I made this build right after the splinter de-buff
P.S.
Hope I'm not off topic.
Nope, it's all good =) I was thinking along the same lines as you anyway! I tend to use Nightmare Weapon and Triple Shot when I do my build though, instead of Drunken Master. It helps against single targets. =)
SS is +33 if you run a superior, conjure is +17 at 12 which is +50 total, there is no way you would do 50 damage with a regular wand hit.....
spirit of defeat
it does about 70 dmge on casters
i tried it
hmm I was getting around 100 dmg per hit, but then that was a while ago. Not sure though but it is fun to watch people scream at you for wanding them to death
i'll test it again
As a side note, I was a little cheezed off at the title for this thread, as I think EVERY class is a gimmick class. This would have been more aptly named "Creative Builds!" or something along that lines. I was gettin' the flamethrower out, but was pleasantly surprised.
for that you may wanna try Draw spirit or swap actually does work.
Grasping, falling lotus or spider, twisting fangs, destruction, swap, rupture,Optional, death pact.......
I just tossed that together I wonder how well that would work
Would be good if you timed it well, so that Destruction ends just as you 'Swap'.
Nice, high, spike damage , PLUS it gets you to safety.
Too bad I am stuck at school till much later in the day but I will test it out when I get home. i always wandted to try one of these in pve, or fight one. Wouldnt that be funny if you were fighting a bunch of rits and they KDd your entire team and then blew them up?
I have odd ideas of having fun in PVE
I tried swap with offensive spirit spam, just to test the skill. It was a lot of fun. Swap provides spirit mobility, escape, outwit interrupt, and pisses lots of chasing melee.
Another good thing about swap is it also works against "enemy spirit", allowing you to place some enemy spirit like Life and Preservation way away from being useful.
I just tossed that together I wonder how well that would work It works quite well, and is very fun
I just was out solo hunting some critters in the "starter" HM areas. it takes a bit of set up but it's a deadly little chain when you nail it.
My bar was [skill]Grasping Was Kuurong[/skill][skill]Falling Spider[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]nightmare weapon[/skill][skill]swap[/skill][skill]rupture soul[/skill][skill]destruction[/skill][skill]dash[/skill]
The only bad thing is the low defense and self heal, but in a 1on1 fight you can really mess em up.
I was feeling a little ambitious after the monster hunting with it so I took it to RA (just to see how human targets would react to it). That was a lot of fun
it was just fun a couple times I went head to head with a sin, with the knockdowns and him not expecting me to turn into an exploding spirit it was rather amusing.
