Hi All -- Been trying to do the 'Cold as Ice' quest without much luck , any suggestions would be appreciated.

Omniclasm
Holy Spear?
Racthoh
I used Consume Soul, Barbed Spear + Maiming Spear with Drunken Master to run around and spear him.
erfweiss
I used a P/Rt build. Used Weapon of Remedy, Vengeful Weapon.
kullwarrior
Grenth Balance for me... works well..

I've never had the nerves/patience for the "cripple, kite & hit the cripple" approach that seems to be the recommended, "true" paragon build for these solo boss fights..
So with my "overpowered" PvE para (yeah right), I beat this and other solo fights (Magni the Bison, the Rabid Bear) with a P/Rt build relying on placing Vampirism, Bloodsong, Shadowsong (and I think one other hitting spirit, forgot which) just before pulling, then applying Painful Bond on target and then finally switching to Ursan Blessing to weaken the foe and finish the job.. Just some points in Leadership (although probably not needed) but most of the attr points went in the Ritualist attributes..

Diddy bow
i did it using apply + toxicty and some self heal, worst time ive ever hap playing guild wars, i wouldnt rekoment it it very fustrating because he keeps placing spirits awkwarly and auto regenerating.
Ninian_Grace
I just used the cheap P/Rt build that consists in spamming spirits and consume soul. took me 10 seconds and he was dead.

Hi All -
First, thanks for all the suggestions and ideas. I have been trying them over the past month and have come to the conclusion that this quest is now uncompleteable for a Paragon primary. I have tried many suggestions from this forum and the wiki and end up dead in VERY short order every time. Upon further analysis it is a variety of reason for the failures, these include but not limited too: Paragon has a smaller energy pool, and less energy regen than other professions, the spirits the griffin puts up are a source of great frustration in this quest, and not having any of the blessings or summon spells is a disadvantage.
Therefore I am asking one more time, has any paragon done this quest recently (like within the last 2 weeks) and been able to complete it successfully. If so how did you do it, and are willing to share the solution, the more details the better. In fact if you dont's want to spoil it for everyone you can PM with the details. I have been beating my head against the wall on this one for days, and it's driving me nuts, please help before I go completely nuts........

Main thing you need is to either be able to kill his spirits, or interrupt them. Cheap way to beat him would be to bring a bunch of spirits and painful bond/ disonance (the interrupt spirit) so that way you can interrupt most of his spirits and then just plain out damage him.
Otherwise you have to lure with a bow away from spirits and try degenning it.
I prefer the lazy way which was just to add spirit spam + ursan blessing for good damage and easy completion.

Hi all,
For those still trying to beat this headache of a quest here is the build I eventually used to best her. It involves obtaining a few of the Gw.En specific PvE only skills. It took me quite a bit of trying to work out my strategy so persevere with it. I eventually found that it was best to run in off load attacks then get out using Grenth's to top up my health. Later you need to use a combination of both grenth's and Heal sig to get your health up. Grenth's gives poorer returns as the Griffon goes below 2/3 health.
Earbite - to cause bleeding
Sig of infection - causes poison on bleeding enemy.
Summon Ruby Djinn - fire damage on top of degens above.
Dismember - lowers health.
Grenth's Balance - Steals loads of health and greatly lowers griffon’s level.
Heal sig.
Rotting flesh - causes poison.
And one other. Sprint would be good.
I found that to cast djinn, and then hit it with rotting at start worked well. It would attack and then I would cast earbite followed by sig of infection followed by dismember. I would then cast Grenth's when at 2/3 health and run away. Repeat as needed.
I also took an axe with +5 energy in with me. Energy + runes would do good as well. The last 3rd was always the hardest as the Griffon regens at such a fast rate, so keep some form of degen on it at all time. Pull it from spirits and stay out of their reach.
Hope it works for you.

Foe: 1 x Glacial Griffin, lvl 28 Rit Lord with Pain, Shadowson, Bloodsong and Dissonance
For those of you who are wondering.. Bison is easier than this guy.
The spirits:
Pain... does what it says on the tin.
Shadowsong blinds you (melee lockdown)
Bloodsong steals life
Dissonance interrupts you (cast lockdown)
Going up against a wall of spirits isn't nice, but you don't really have a great deal of options especially as their range is that of a longbow and your spear is much less. The griffin uses the area very well and you are not going to trap him or hide behind a rock whilst he pummels against it. You need to be on the move most of the time. His melee attacks, whilst not as bad as Bison in form, hurt, 5 or 6 of these and you are dead, with the spirits involved it is much quicker.
Build
P/N
Spear 12 (Minor Rune)
Command 9 (For the shield so Mot 9 is just as good)
Blood:12
Spear with a damage mod and health, Shield.
(I used Courage of the Forgotten and Shagu's Anthem)
Radiant Armour
1). Barbed Spear
2). Spear of Redemption (made for Blind!)
3). Holy Spear (Made for Spirits and minions)
4). Blazing Spear
5). Cruel Spear
6). Mark of Fury
7). Feel No Pain (Norn Skill)
8). Life Siphon
Life siphon him to counter his natural regen (at least it didn't seem to drain his damage) and maintain yours. Mark of Fury is your adrenaline gain skill (lasts for ages too) Feal no Pain is a cheap regen skill. He doesn't have a heal, so the best option is to let him cast spirits and hex him, once done, he won't have much energy left. So you need to pull him out and deal some damage, whilst maintaining 6,7 and 8 as much as possible (hence all adren attacks). Crippling doesn't work as he will just sit and spam the spirits where he is, and interrupting him only brings another spirit straight after.
Holy spear hitting a spirit will trigger the additional bonuses which is a nice amount of damage.
Anyway like Bison, it takes a while, stay safe as much as possible, but you have to keep the pressure on, pick and choose your battles.
