I haven't seen a reference to this anywhere (yet):

Before you enter a bonus mission you are given a weapon. When you enter the mission your stats (max health, energy, etc.) are set to a certain level. My question is, does adding mods to the weapon have any affect on your stats when you enter the mission? Does it matter if you change your attributes?

For example, before you do Saul's Story, you are given a basic smiting staff requiring 9 smiting prayers, with no mods on it. Does it make a difference if you change your attributes to put 9 in smiting? Would adding, say for example, an Insightful Staff Head and Staff Wrapping of Fortitude make any difference?

(I'm guessing, no - and I'll probably find out by experimentation soon anyway. )

(I'm referring here to weapon you get before you enter the mission, not the weapons you get as a reward afterwards)

No it doesnt have an affect on the BMP missions, but some of the skins are unavailable anywhere else in the game( see turais sword) so we can still use them for normal gameplay
hope that helps

Turai's Sword is the only unique mission-required weapon skin. Saul's staff is a Winged Staff and Togo's is a generic Channeling staff. Turai's shield is a tactics-req Shield of the Lion.

and to Quaker: Health and energy mods will have no effect anyway. Your health, energy, and skills are set by the disguise you enter when you activate the mission. A 15^50 or sunder on Turai's sword might have an effect, though.

I tried modding Togo's staff before I did it the second time. 1st time through, energy was 50. 2nd time I threw on a +5e head and a +5^50e inscr. 2nd time energy was, you guessed it, 50. +10energy mods, no change in Togo's pool. You can mod em to use outside of the BMP mission, but mods won't work in the mission.

Oh Noes! The 'burbs!

I don't think you can alter your attribute distribution in the BMP. You can rearrange your skills, but that's all. That's all I was able to do last night, when I did Saul's mission.

When I did the mission, I noticed that Saul was listed as an E/Mo. Did anyone else get that or is that simply a reflection of your actual character's class?

Like you said, your original character.

Did you try a weapon swap? I don't have the BMP so I'm not sure it's possible, but it works for Junundu.

Suppose you have a +30 mod in your F1 slot. Upon entering the wurm, your health becomes 3000. Pressing F2 and then back to F1 results in 3030 hp.

Weapon swapping is disabled, and you can't access your inventory either.

I've found that putting HCT mods on Togo's Staff actually does take effect within the mission itself, if that helps.
