My wife and I bought GW:EN from the online store, and when Amazon held their 50% off sale, we bought the boxed version as a gift for a friend. When I opened the delivery box and actually held that physical box in my hand, I then wondered what in the world is so special about it. You get some cardboard, a DVD, a manual (which no one here would even consider using), a quick-key chart, some ad from NCSoft about their other products, some trial keys I doubt anyone would want (CoH/Cov? c'mon), and of course, the access key.
It is all just a huge waste of space and materials. Most people would throw it away when done, everyone else just stores it away, perhaps on display, to be eventually forgotten until spring cleaning, then perhaps thrown away or stored again. Unless it's a collector's edition, with art books and other fun things, I see no reason why anyone would want the boxed version over the online version - except for price alone.
Of course, if this thread is designed to be ironic, then forgive my post. Otherwise, ya know, /notsigned and all that jazz.
