Sauls discoveries...
flclempire
Could someone help me find a way to protect the villagers at the start? I've tried using just bombs+wards+the aoe sig but the villagers just run right up and get raped. Sometimes they just sit back and dont aggro at all though, so is this just a discovery of luck? One time after I killed all the charr there I looked for villager corpses with alt and none were shown. But then I died on the next group (trying to clear all the camps) and I didn't get the discovery T.T Do I need to complete the book to get the discovery point? ty
flclempire
Mkk I went through again and did a head count XD All of the villagers were safe so that just leaves my other question. Do I need to complete the book b4 I get the point? Or are there more villagers to save somewhere?
Lotrfish
You have to complete the whole thing to finish the discoveries.
flclempire
Yay, you were right. Man, after getting the fifth camp marked off my knuckles were white for the rest of the fight....it would've sucked soooo badly if I would've died at the last part after going through all that.

The charr are easy...target the boss/beast and the AoE signets and ally splash damage will kill everything else around. This quest is pretty darn easy IMO...

Do the villagers react to the flag? If so, plant it where you want them at the start to stop them running all over the place.

I got this one almost by accident. Just ran between the villagers and the charr right away, so they settled on saul and his party. Got killed a couple of times in the process, wasting a whole 2 minutes of my life. But eventually it worked.
I didn't notice the droppable bombs and such until after >_<

You get a message as soon as a villager die (sayihng something about ...if saul could have saved all the villagers...) and at one point I got that messages when one of my allies died long after we left the village (as part of the test. I just dident take any chanses when I was donne testing so I kept them all alive (except the mursaat). I did not test if some of the more known allies could die. I'll do that tomorow. My guess is that the 3 guys waiting by the gate at the start can die, they are not saying good bye to any families

why do you need to save the villagers?

This is part of the bonus.

There are bonus for the mission? don't think there are any bonus in these mission.
how ever i did the Saul's mission again, and the way to stop the charr from killing the villagers is to run towards the stunt and barbs bombs cast number six for the healing and number 8 to call everyone to your side, reducing damage done to you, because if you die, its over, if one of the other shorties dies they will be ressurected, keep picking up and dropping the bombs they die after 3-4 bombs drops. I completed the first part with one dead villager.

I was finally able to do it.
I tried the "bond them" suggestion from Nemo, but since Saul doesn't carry that skill, it didn't work.
As soon as I zoned, I activated skill #7 to recharge my signets faster, then skill 8 to get my allies to run with me. I ran right up into the charging charr and activated skill #1 to get them to attack me and my allies. I kept skill #6 (the party healing skill) up ALL THE TIME. Once the charr were all attacking us, I backed up hugging the right wall to obstruct some of their attacks on me. Then it was just a matter of spamming 1, 2, 3, 4, 6, 7, 8. No spell sits idle.
It worked for me, but there's no guarantee of it working a second time.
I knew I accomplished it because I didn't get the message: "Historical Debate: Could Saul have kept all the Krytan villagers alive during the initial Charr attack."
I then had to go kill the three bosses and survive the four waves of attacks to get the bonus.

hi dts 720666,
does the end cinematic indicate that you you've gotten the bonus? because I did everything including saving the villagers but there's no mention of bonus anywhere...

These bonus pack discoveries are somewhat glitched. i knwo this isnt related but i did gwens mission a 2nd time and was able to do it in 8 mins, but i did not get the save ghost bonus, which is strange because u hafta save the ghosts to exit the cave. just saying that soemtimes the BMP is glithced.

You can only complete each discovery 1 time on your account.
So if you got the saved the ghosts discovery once already and you go back again to get the time bonus, you cannot get the saved the ghosts bonus again.

There are two ways to tell if you've done them. First, when the mission is complete, check, your chat window. It will tell you how many of the discoveries you have discovered. It will say 0 of 3 or 1 of 3, etc.
Second, you can always go to Historian Durmond and select the option about discoveries. He will tell you how many discoveries for each mission you have discovered.
Corcis
You cannot do the bonuses until you have completed successfully one run through each mission. The first time doesn't count.
