Well, my brother wants to buy the expansion, last time he was at my home saw it and was amazed.

We live in Europe and the price for us in the online store is 34,99€ he is over 18, has a job, money, credit card and everything, so no problem to use the online shop.

But just browsing the internet, we found these 2 convenient offers:

Link deleted, see below
Boxed version € 27,99 delivery included

Link deleted, see below
Boxed version € 23,49 + 3€ postage = 26,49€

So we discovered that the online price, without box, manuals and so on, is 25% or 32% more expensive than a boxed version we can buy from the first 2 retailers we found on the internet.

And I know that those retailers are reliable, I bought 8 copies of the games from them, using my credit card, no problem at all.

Furthermore, I paid similar prices around 28€ for the previous campaigns, in the period when those campaigns were priced 49,99€ in the online store, that means 95% more.

My brother studied economy, and told me that online software sale is much more convenient for the developers, because they skip the whole distribution chain.

The developers don't have to share their profit with the retailers, don't have to make boxes, don't have shipping costs. The money goes directly to their bank.

This will be the future of all software sale, because in this way the developers will be able to offer their products at much more convenient prices, or use their higher incomes to make much better products and offer a great customer service, with clear advantages for their faithful customers.
It's a win/win.

Now I'm trying to apply this beautiful theory to the products sold by the company NC/A.net, but I can't find how.
Probably I don't have all information I need.

- Is there any special content accessible once my brother buys EoTN in the online store?
- Is there some sort of promotion, discount for future purchases, fidelity points, special reward or anything similar?

I think the theory is correct, there MUST be some kind of advantage for spending 25% or 32% more, it's only me that I'm not able to find it.

Need help please!

Edit: I deleted the links because I don't know if it's correct to advertise shops on a forum, if anyone wants I will give via pm.

Its more simple than all that. Developers do not reduce the price of their releases when you buy from them directly. They simply always sell at the MSRP. Online retailers, however, after a time begin selling below MSRP to move product inventory. Anyone who knows economics surely knows that.

There used to be the advantage to buy EotN direct from Anet, to get the BMP, but that no longer applies. Right now its simply buy it where you can for the best price you can and, since its been out for a while, the cheapest will never be direct. The only "advantage" you do get buying direct is the ability to play it 15 minutes later.

This is generally true, but I bought EoTN in August 2007 from the 2nd shop and the price was exactly the same! So this was not a sellout!

And all previous campaigns have always been priced the same, since the very 1st day they were released! And this was 95% less than the online shop price in the same period!

There MUST be some advantage, no one has a clue?

as the previous poster told you there was a advantage, the bonus mission pack, that advantage is gone now so the only thing you actually pay extra for in the in-game store is that you get to play the game right after you have bought it.

I was in the same situation when I was about to buy EOTN, I chose to pay the extra money compared to the retail price and get it from the ingame store so I could get the bonus mission pack.

But since that offer no longer applies the ingame store is way to expensive to use compared to retailers so I would recommend ordering the game from the source that gives you the best deal. In this case the boxed version from a retailer.

I got Factions and Nightfall for $24.99 at Circuit City and recenly GWEN from Amazon.com for $19.99 and I got Prophecies for $39.99 so I got all of em pretty cheap by waiting until they went on sale. I only waited a month for Nightfall and Factions was on sale the day of release at Circuit City for some reason or other and of course Prophecies had sales all over the place when it was released. So I sorta knew to wait on GWEN which is now just a measly $19.99 now at Amazon. Saves to be patient when buying computer games anymore. I got Paradox's Victoria for .99 cents the first month it was out it was such a crappy game to most, but, it's a pretty good game now after all the patches. I got all the Baldur's Gate series and Neverwinter Nights Diamond series and Oblivion all for under $20 as well by waiting. The complete Morrowind set for $7.98 Ima smart shopper and very patient person.
