Role playing or PvP? (noob question)
cheater1
I at choose your character type section and its asking if i want to make it role playing character or a PvP Only Character. If i chose any one, later on can i change it? If not what are the difference between them too?
Nyktos
Roleplaying characters - Start at level one, can do PvE.
PvP characters - Start at level twenty, can't do PvE, get free equipment and skills.
You can't change it, but note that Roleplaying characters can still do PvP (they just have to pay for their equipment and skills).

but can u change it later on in the middle of game?

No you cant change them simple as that. If your new Make a PvE char and learn to play the Game first if you then want to try out PvP then make a PvP character and go PvPing.
PvE chars suck at PvP so theres also no point in doing that. So one or the other m8

Once a character is made, that character stays what it is forever.
But your account can have both types of characters. People who like PvP often leave one character slot open. PvP characters gain nothing for themselves, so they can be deleted after every match. There's no gain in keeping them.
PvE characters have to earn everything they have, and if you delete one you lose everything you put into it. They -will- unlock certain things for your account though, and thereby benefit your PvP characters as well as your Heroes if you have Nightfall or GW:EN.
How unlocking works is that once a PvE character finds or acquires something -item, skill, upgrade, elite, etc, (s)he unlocks it. Once it is unlocked any PvP character can be made with that thing. If the unlock is a skill (regular or elite) any Hero you have can now use that skill (if the right profession). Without any unlocks your PvP characters only have access to very small list of skills and items.
You can buy PvP unlocks with earned faction (a reward from matches) but these unlocks only help PvP characters, and not PvE ones. You can also buy unlock packs in the Guild Wars store - they give full skill access for the named campaign to PvP characters and Heroes.
If you want to learn the game, even if you want to learn PvP, make a PvE character first. Without unlocks you won't stand a chance in max level PvP and may even get people who report you as an abuser for not being good enough...
The best way to learn PvP is to make a PvE character and go to one of the level 1-10 random arenas (Post Searing Ascalon, Kamaden, or Shing Jea). Your fellow players will be less likely to be elitist and you can get away with trying out different tactical ideas more.
When you hit level 11, move on to a level 11-15 arena (Yak's Bend, not sure if there are any others). By the time you level out of that, you'll be ready to at least defend yourself from accusations of leeching or throwing matches when you join max level PvP.

Make a PvE character, it will teach you the basics of the game and is where 90% of the games content is.

ok here another question i got from reading the post. I heard u can only have 4 character on your account at once, and if u want more u can just buy more for 10$ each. i wondering cant i just delete one of my character to make more room? for example: i got 4 rangers right and i want to have a magic character. cant i just delete of of the rangers to make room for a magicer?
cosyfiep
you can delete characters as much as you like, but remember if you make a pve character to remove everything from it before you do so , and that any item customized for that character can not be used on any other character even if it has the same name! (that characters heroes can use any item customized for it since they are sortof customized as well--).
pvp characters dont lose anything by deleting them since they start at max level and can obtain max armor/weapons etc from the start (if they are unlocked).
Many people delete characters to make new ones, I have done this as well---I like to create characters so I will make one, take screen shots of it and then delete it and start over.....can be done as many times as you please.
