Question about texmodder being banned

Please clarify if this is just a rumor or not, but I was talking about the "Canthan Grandmaster Cartographer in a day - What's A-Net going to do about it?" thread and how texmodding was deemed 'not bannable' when a guy in my alliance [one I respect] said the person who made the texmod was banned.

Was he actually banned for using Texmod according to your source?

i haven't heard about anyone being banned. alot of "what ifs", but thats about it. textmod pretty harmless/fun tool

i doubt they can even detect its use.

after you fire up textmod, run the GW executable(thru Tmod), you can kill the textmod process before even logging in and still have the desired effects in place.

Texmod was first made so it could mod Tomb Raider, i believe... So i doubt ANET banned someone who doesnt even play GW

I believe he refers to the maker of the canthan explorer file that goes into texmod, not the maker of the texmod.

Sounds like wild rumor to me. ANet has said over and over that they will not ban for using Texmod.

Yeah Anet have came out and said its use is fine, they arent going to suddenly turn round and ban people for using it.

At the beginning they had some bannings that detected the use of a third party program, but only for the first week or two of people using it. All those individuals had their accounts restored when it was explained what program they were using. Anet has said it is perfectly fine to use it, as long as the players are aware that should texmod conflict with the game in any way they will not be able to provide support.
