Look! Flat Shield - Disappointed.

Look at the Shield from the BMP side ways (left picture) very nice right, and look at the picture on the left.


and before anyone says its to reduce the poligon counts and what not ... look at this Onwan Shield (or any other curve shield), or Kappa Shield and look at how much more better the spikes looks and the slight "curve" gives to the shield a much better look....


I know the game is upadate life, so please when anyone of you guys doing the 3D in Arena Net is free, please, please, redo the shield. its ... erm... no comment ... just please redo it. thank you very much.

Kappa shield's still one of my favourite shields for this reason.

The other shield that I find to be ashame is the exhalted aegis, it's paper thin when you look at it front on... it'd be really nice if they could... give it some weight?

What bothers me the most is how freaking far away from your hand the shield is floating, It's like out there.. in mid air, this is one of the reasons why i sold my torment shield, it just looks retarded as hell. ''Hey guys look at my shield, it has no handles, it just floats! and not only does it float, but a good 4-5 inches away from my arm!''. Oh well, guess I can't complain since theres other good shields out there.

This totally depends on the armor you are wearing, this is done to avoid clipping as much as possible i believe..
This is a bullshit topic btw, if you look around the undead shield you can clearly see the "bumps".

Yea, you can see some of the texture to the undead shield...At least its not as thin as the ele sword and fiery/icey blade axes.

Yeah, well good point, but still I don't mind because I have tons of shields that work great, like Summit Warlords, I love those.

Shields were designed in a way to prevent clipping on ANY profession. My monk finally has access to shields that aren't through her arm or entirely awkward looking. I don't know whether that entirely accounts for the flatness, but it explains the space between the arm and shield.

You'll be better off looking for a shield that nicely fits the armor you are wearing.

Try a Shield of the Lion, they're awesome looking and easy to come by.

The shield's not free, it takes at least some time to get the mission done to get it, and you need an inscription AND a handle to get it to max.

But otherwise: I love that shield, and prefer it ot the competing ones. I like the flatness (if proper shield curving is not available, this is the second best).

While the shield looks silly on your female warrior, it attaches absolutely perfect to my warrior's sunspear 15k armor.

I could not test it, but I am sure it does not clip or not much with primeval warrior armor and monk armors.


Maybe you should try a Tengu shield, while getting another helmet as well.

The handle is made of glass. Very very very clear glass.

Either that or very hard air.

The only gripe I have on the dead sheild is it needs to be rotated 90 degrees. skinny end is on the bottom not the side.

We weren't even expecting these weapons until the BMP was released, so appreciate the free weapons Anet took time to design.

If you don't like them, don't get them. It's not like it's a big let down, we didn't even know we'd get these items with the missions.

You don't like it? simple... throw it away and try another FREE shield.

Now that the whaaa whaaaa threads of the players that missed out on the BMP are cooling off... we are gonna start the *lets complain about what we got* whaaa whaaaa threads of the ungrateful players that do have the BMP.

There is no such thing as a *perfect* shield for everybody. If that one doesn't fit, move on to the next.

Upon more investigation and comparing the shield structures in the game, I have come to the conclusion that the flat undead shield is made very sloppily, and in a hasty manner, I am thinking the textures artist has done a very good job but the 3D artist totally kill that skin with the flat 3D frame.

In my humble opinion, a flat shield will break faster on contact, are you trying to murder my character? so please make a better shape for that wonderful skin.

Look at the details you guys have been able to produce so far for this wonderful game, please keep up the good work! linkie.

You obviously haven't seen an Echovald Shield.

Anyway, it's rather disappointing that it's flat...

Especially since it's obviously designed to be ridged. With fairly high ridges, too.
