You need to grade the quality of teams so new players can pvp against teams with comparable abilities.
The really good players and teams need to play at their own level so no easy kills for them.
If thats now the norm for pvp then I am plaeased and might take part more.
That's how gvg is. For the most part.

As for the Arenas in WoW, it's pretty similar to TA: Quick battles that do require coordination. 2v2 isn't too great though, since the game is based around teamplay. So a lot of instances in 2v2 and to some extent 3v3 can at times become rock-paper-scissors. I mean so is GW but Arena is the high-end in WoW.
AB is serious business?

And pressing 12345 is pvp

Don't talk about GW's pvp if you have absolutely no idea what you're talking about.

I heard 23412312 wammos said that "I've played for 2 years, don't tell me what to do." Oh plz, stop that kind of arguments.

To the OP: yes, pvp players complain a lot but about the stuffs you posted. I didn't know why I didn't stop reading when you claimed that WoW's pvp was better. But well, it's a good laugh

All this is just my opinion, so take what you will from it.

EDIT: Thanks to nebuchanezzar for summing up what I was trying to say.
Not to spark an argument, here. But I would hardly consider the PvP in WoW PvP. It's more along the lines of "I raid more than you and have better items, I win."

Thats why I love PvP in GW. Teamwork and skill over all!

I compared battlegrounds to alliance battles. Why are you attacking me for that?

it's a mmorpg/pvp game

As for the OP, I say... no. There are tons of PvP updates... it's called nerfs. Sure they are bad, but to think Anet gives everything to PvE is just plain retarded.

although I do agree that HB was a bunch of shit. It's hardly any PvP, more of "hey I have this leet build that makes you do no damage but tank the hell out of everything!"

Because I felt that you took those 2 as what 2 greatest things that GW and WoW offered, which only devaluated the PvP's aspect of GW.

hmm, what the hell? WoW pvp doesn't reach the toenails of GW pvp, exactly like GW pve doens't reach the toenails of WoW pve.

And to the subject, Anet sadly realized that pve sells and pvp doesn't, since the amount of people that are interested in pvp is tiny compared to the number of people looking for pve. Therefore, GW, which WAS A PVP GAME AT THE START (and don't argue with it, for crying out loud) is now a pve game. NF= pve. GWEN= pve. GW2 looks like it's meant for pve crowd (races, huge level cap).
The PvP community is constantly decreasing because PvP doesn't get enough attention and support (and please don't mention the jokes called alliance battle and hero battle).
The only excuse I can find is that Anet don't have enough experience in managing a mmorpg, and therefore they did mistakes that hurt the game.
I can only hope that they will learn from those mistakes and implement what they learned in GW2.

Oh and btw, all you pve folks, the only reason that you are playing this game is that it doesn't have monthly fee, as opposed to some other game which I won't mention by name.

I'm not trying to start an argument, I'd just like to know why people think this was so. ANet has said many times they have been going for a mix of PvE and PvP and from a PvE standpoint, there never has been as strong PvE content as Prophecies, the first ever GW product.

Main reason I play GW is it doesn't require months of grind to be competitive. Good graphics and no monthly fee come after that.

I've never understood where this opinion came from! Did Anet actually state at some point that GWs was originally a pvp game which just had some pve stuff stuck on?

I've never seen that statement and i was never under the impression it was more a pvp game, and ive been playing almost from the start.

Unless you can find some quote to back that up (either on the box or from the website or the company), i really wish people would stop saying that. I started playing this game purely for the pve side and I have only just now (after 2 years) started to creep into pvp/gvg only for AB.

However I agree some more interesting pvp content would be nice, especially to entice the pure pve players into pvp. If they added more maps to AB or more battles like AB then it would make me happy.

shoogi I played WoW for 2 months and I came running back to GWs because it wins by bucket loads on sheer replayability and content. I got sooo bored with WoW purely because I was spending most of my paid time killing creatures over and over and over again just to reach a decent level to be able to continue doing quests or dungeons.

Where as you can do anything and kill anything at any level in GWs. Your not restricted to certain skills or armor or weapons because of your level. You can use or do anything you want without grinding you level up to reach the required level.

I also found it near impossible to find anyone to play with and I obviously didnt have henches to help. I had to solo most quests and those I could do, I had to level up before I had a chance.

The quest and dungeons were also completely boring for one very simply reason; WoW has no storyline! There is no incentive to play WoW other then to level up and get better gear. Your not fighting through quests or dungeons which have any meaning or impact on the world. Your just killing stuff!

GWs has a storyline and a reason to play.

I also stood back and watched people doing pvp in WoW and I cant say it apealed at all. Some dude walks up to you and goes "hey I want a fight" by putting a flag in the ground and you get your ass kicked... wow fun!!

Most times you get frozen on the spot and their pet does all the dmg.

Im sure there are bigger pvp aspects to wow, but how it is any different to what you do in pve in Wow day in and day out? Its not!

There is no clear distinction between pvp and pve in WoW because its all world based and your basically just killing stuff over and over again. Yes you might have to defend your capitcal because the Hord invade, but thats no different to walking 2 feet outside an outpost and being attacked by 10 creatures.

Yes you might have big 10v10 battles or bigger in WoW, but thats no different to swimming accross a lake with a PUG and killing 10 creatures.

WoW is just more of the same over and over again and it doesnt matter if your killing hords of creatures of hords of humans. Its all the same.

GWs clearly distinguishes between pvp and pve with the battle ayles and the entire feeling of it is more distinctive. 1v1 pvp in WoW is not a skifull tasks, because most people just freeze you on the spot and dmg deal, and you have around 20 skills to choose from.

GWs pvp is more specialised with less skills and having to be more resourcefull. You cant carry 15 skills and 100 healing potions to make your life easier.

Hehe, yeah, that was fun.

Don't you even remember where the arenas where before Factions?

Factions brough the PvP=PvE, before that, the game was PvP<PvE.

You had to run the whole PvE map to get to the arenas, you had to play most of the Story to get to the Hall of Heroes...

It seems that people easily forget things.

They're not contributing much more to GW because their main focus right now is GW2, both for pve and pvp. Be patient.

here is the quote from JEFF STRAIN saying the opposite

Evil Avatar News: Guild Wars seems to be a pretty hardcore PvP type game. How does Factions supplement the core game in terms of additional appeal? Has there been an effort made to entice people who didn't like Guild Wars? Have there been any creative strides toward doing unique PvE situations?

JS: Well, I think Guild Wars has excellent PvP, especially in the online role-playing genre, in fact it’s the only game with well-designed well-balanced PvP; but that doesn’t mean the game is a hardcore PvPer's game. Guild Wars started life as a role-playing game, and we continue to support that very strongly.

A game that looks bad but plays great would really rock. Look at how popular Runescape is at the moment, for example. Though RS has other issues that keep me from playing it...

There are very little similarities between WoW and GW. You might as well be comparing Halo with Soul Calibur 2. I mean, they both have a competitive side, right?

Your completely right, but its those differences which help put some perspective onto GWs when people start winging about grind.

By comparison GWs may have grind too, but virtually none of it is compulsary to actually continuing gameplay.
