Okay, I just got the ability to get a Rainbow Phoenix, and I'm excited! However, I want to make it dire.
I heard that using the Junundu wurms is a nice way of racking up experience to get it to dire without worry. Is this true?
Rainbow Phoenix, dire.

Yes, to a degree. I recently got my rainbow phoenix too, and congratulations on getting yours! What you're gonna wanna do is get the phoenix to evolve to aggressive (the stage before dire) which occurs around level 10-12. Go ahead and set up a full beast mastery build, something like this:
Max expertise and beast mastery
[skill]enraged lunge[/skill][skill]call of haste[/skill][skill]call of protection[/skill][skill]symbiotic bond[/skill][skill]whirling defense[/skill][skill]predatory bond[/skill][skill]comfort animal[/skill][skill]charm animal[/skill]
Level your phoenix on either the charr in old ascalon or the skale in Fahranur, the First city until he evolves to aggressive. Then you can level him the rest of the way in the wurm. Wurm leveling works well in tandem with SS/LB farming as well since you'll be in hard mode and you'll be killing lots of monsters for another goal anyway.

Oh. Hah, and in the meantime I've been killing HM wurms outside of boreal station. Oh well, while it was boring, I got some golds, and got it from lvl 14 to 18.
Thanks for the tip Faith.
FYI, I killed 65 creatures in HM jonundu w/o seeing a level (obviously due to party size), and my pet leveled less than every 2 wurm runs. Wurm runs outside of Boreal worked lots better for me.

Search the ranger forum; there's several recent threads on this topic. Pay especial attention to posts by lennymon; he's an expert of sorts on pet evolution.

And for the place to go to, leaving from Remains of Sahlahja going into the Sulfurous wastes is where I'm leveling my phoenix right now. So far he's gotten a level every run.
Well you could always hit up THE ss/lb farm spot

Scroll down to "The Sulfurous Wastes"
3000 sunspear points per hour
3900 lightbringer points per hour
plus its all on HM for the extra exp and golds and whatnot

i evolved mine to dire farming the minotours in proph, dont forget to get it to dire it has to do far more dmg than you i`m not sure the wurm farming method works to get a pet to dire, but atleast if you RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GO it up you can abandon it and start again,
