also even though paragons are weak enough already, what more would this realy do?.. for 30 seconds all my attacks are the same, and i dont get 2 seconds of burning from one and +3 energy from another?... big deal lol
It just wouldnt even be worth using up a skill slot to make someone deff.

Not nearly as powerful as Weakness or Dazed, so I don't see the point.

Since when can people dismiss their deafness?

My main problem lies in the fact that alot of skills have to be changed to implement the condition. And then even more skills have to be balanced around those

It could be done before gw:en, however changing ~15 skills to do something with deaf is alot of trouble.

Good ideas and arguments, I like the idea that Deafness could only effect one skill; or shouts will only work in 1/2 the normal radius.

If you want to talk about stupid skills, take a look at cracked armor. Thats much more dumb than Deafness.

Who knows, maybe anet will sympathize for the paragons and bring back some of their former strength; then deafness would definetly be more of a considerable factor.

ATM I believe that deafness isn't WAY out there, it will just take time for better ideas and effects of the condition to develop, keep your comments coming!

Paragons aren't the only ones that use shouts and chants. Warriors do too. But anyway, this seems like a good idea but I think there are too many conditions as it is and they're all annoying. lol So I'm kind of neutral with this one.

What they said. Paragons, nerfed already, impractical condition that only targets one or at a stretch two classes.

Since when can people resurrect a dead individual, who didn't JUST die clinically? Since when does a decapitation not result in instant death? Since when can people take physical attacks from a big black cow with blades on its arms and survive just because there's some religious nutcase praying 10 feet behind them?

Point: reality is already thrown out the window with the introduction of magic. Well of silence is the ONLY skill that prevents shouts in this game.

I'm not saying do this and that's that...I'm saying do this and put the nerfed para and warrior skills back to the way they were, now that they have a proper counter.

Couldn't agree more myself, hopefully if anet takes notice of this the possibility could be heightened!

Anyone else have suggestions? I would really like to read them so keep them coming!

One can only hope. I doubt it will happen though.
I think they SHOULD be brought back to their former strength, theN more skills to counter them could be added, and deaf would then be viable and usefull.

If and untill that happens my para will remain uber weaksauce and only usefull as a mule.

Paragons are still the best class in PvE. I don't see why everyone's crying. Learning to play a paragon is key.

Yeah, I don't have a problem with disagreeing but would you please say why you don't think this is a good idea. The only way for ideas to grow are to build on them with constructive criticism, just a thought.

Aw man, everyone already said what I was gonna. :P When NF first came out, this would've been a pretty neat idea, but putting Deafness in on top of all the other problems they added to Paragons would make the class useless. Either that or the skill wouldn't get much use; it's quite the conditional denial.

Anyone else have ideas about this?

So far there are some good things.

Another thing I thought about is making the Paragons and Warriors having a skill called "Sound Attunement" or "Ears of the Owl".

Sound attunement: for 5...15...25 seconds you can not become deaf. 5(10) energy, instant cast, 10 second recharge.

Ears of the Owl: For 10...30...50 seconds you have a 75% chance to not become deaf. 5(10) energy, instant cast, 15 second recharge.

These skills would be stances or some type of glyph.

Apreciate all your feedback!

Why did you res this thread?
Paragon's have been nerfed quite hard, and this should of been implimented before they did.

As said, it only targets Paragons (heavily), Warriors, and Rangers (Beast Masters). Considering Paragon's primary attribute, it destroys that class if added. Besides, you didn't make the condition on par with current conditions. Blind makes you miss 90% of the time, not 100%. So Deaf would need to be comparable, with a failure chance of 90%. Too complex to make skills change to use it, too complex to add new skills to apply it, and too destructive to the current class structure.

I think the Paragons would appreciate it if the relentless nerf bat to the face would stop
