duncan - 3 days to find a group, 30 minutes to kill him

Has anyone else found this to be the case? I've done duncan a number of times now and it seems like every time it takes longer and longer to find a group that actually forms, makes it there, has the door open, and doesn't suck. Then it takes nothing at all to kill him. And I feel really sorry for people playing something other than ele, sv necro, ob flesh tank, or monk. and maybe fs ranger. Every group I've been in its the same way, and they all complain about it so I know its not just me. What's going on? Is slavers that dead or am I just there at the wrong times?

Also, I can hero/hench the rest of slavers but haven't had any luck doing duncan. Any tips on builds? I play ele, any build. I've been using sab's n/rit with a sv/sos intead of ss and a fs barrage ranger instead of the mm. plus monk hench and tank hench (which kinda, well, suck) Any ideas, or should I try to find another person to do 2 person/6 hero?

It does take about an hour to form a group. The biggest problem, however, is running to SE only to find the door closed because of 1 player, which this often leads to the group falling apart because said player wont reveal himself and people start to just leave in frustration.
This must be part of the fun of playing GW as A-Net envisaged it.

I henched it (NM) just fine. Think I put frozen soil on my SS, took a SV/SoS instead of a rit healer. Used my MM as SoS bait at Duncan. It was pretty plain sailing once you have the right way to lay spirits / aggro the resurrecting summit groups sussed.

Yeah the uncanny entry points are a pain in the ass and they're really not encouraging to PUGers. I fail to see why it is necessary. When your PUG sucks it's back to outpost, reform PUG and go in again. That only eats a needless amount of time.

sometimes whole team suck but pug do things right for all team ..
then dont say the pugs r bad ..
whole team can be bad .. and when in Guild group have 1 pug .. then 1 pug cant fail for all team ..

when u go in The deep .. u can do this 3-3-3 and can do this 4-4-4 .. tehn pugs dosnt mater..

bigest problem is , when u get in half mision then someone leaving .. i hate that ..

i dont have duncan because others bosses didnt kill .. why i cant kill the boses ? because its very hard do with hero .. and when im a mesmer noone take me in party .. ursan ? ursan yea , but offten ppls only go for duncan not for other quests in Vlox ..

Should just change it so that if you're not Duncan-ready, you don't get any drops from his chest, or your quest updated.

A good build and a few consumables make this quite possible. I don't normally advocate blowing money and resources on consumables, but in this case I made an exception.

Paragons are accepted as tanks in groups, so are dervishes and elementalists.
Mesmers can play fast casting nukers, although I could think of many other ways a mesmer can shine there.
I have been proposing a R/Me or Me/R that has famine as elite and SV/AV on the bar to cast on the tank to deal damage and cause massive energy/adrenaline denial to stone summit and even help with the touchers. Arcane conundrum can also sufficiently reduce the efficiency of the SS priest and defender.

I don't think there are pugs out there that would accept a mesmer. Not that it wouldn't work....

Just get some friends or join a larger alliance.

STOP TRYING TO PUG HARDER AREAS. Duncan is not that hard, but it seems to have pug failure potential already. 3 days waiting, argh! A 2nd person is enough to bring you to Duncan in HM.

As Elementalist, take Pain Inverter. Our Elementalist uses Deep Freeze + echoed Savannah Heat or Earth Warder with Unsteady Ground, the Vanguard Ward of Courage and Eruption.

Your buddy is ideally a SS Necromancer (You do not need Spoil Victor to kill Duncan, SS and Necrosis works, sloooower, but it works, and the curse line is more useful vs the mobs before Duncan) or a Monk, it is annoying to tell the monk heroes to use Prot Spirit on you permanently.

A human necro can make very good use of Barrage and BHA Rangers, Rangers in general. Mark of Pain can potentially outdamage Ele spells. Let him put MoP on a healer mob that slowly dies and watch everything around him die - the Necro will see a screen full of "42's".

You can also read up on PvXWiki some builds to defeat Duncan.

TBH, the people standing there and complaining they cannot do it and are not finding a PUG were probably the same that were standing in Gates of Madness for weeks. Do not make a fool of yourself by grouping with scrubs.

The problem is it is very difficult especially in HM so groups tend to be formed with only certain classes and those need specific builds and if you have neither then it can be tough to impossible to get in a group.

This is the downside to having content that is harder than normal with a player base that simply can't exceed normal due to capped levels, armor, and weaponry.

Welcome to the world of "instancing". Anyone who's ever played pretty much any other MMORPG will tell you that an hour to find a group is pretty normal. They'll also tell you that not actualy finishing the dungeon is normal. Seriously, go play WoW or something if you don't believe me. GW players are too used to getting into things within 30 seconds or getting henchies/heroes.

pink heres my paragon.

Urasan, mending refrain, bladeturn refrain, burning refrain.

i have low norn rank, so ursan roar is only 3 sec.

ursan roar is a shout, with 15sec recharge, 3 sec duration. perfect to power my 20sec refrains. get the idea?

People who like GW like it because among other things it's usually possible to get things done relatively quickly.

The problem with Slaver's is that people are stuck in the same effective group pattern where it's really not necessary. I did the first three steps of the dungeon with a friend of mine and heroes, no eles and not oby tanks. It wasnt pretty at times but we got it done in relatively short order. I've also solo henched Duncan in NM because just about no one does that anymore and I needed to fill in my dungeon book.

why so much Qqing for a very easy Dungeon to beat with H/H.

HM is harder but I did it HM. It take a long time but you feel so nice doing those thing by yourself.

If you are doing the book, only need to kill Duncan himself for the update.

Here is what I use and what has been used in like 10 tread already :

SaB Build for all 4 bosses which is 3 dungeons. Get what ever you might want. I usualy use a Blood Hench, Me hench, Earth hench, Paragon...anything but Warr, Fire actualy. Get a Hench Mo and you on.

Ducan : Replace your SS from SaB's with an SV + SoSorrow and MM for a Mo Hero. Go wild till the end. You can use Swap too to dispatch those nasty spirits.

Dont forget PS on your Mo flag Nec to position, Flag Mo to Ps non stop. Block all uneeded skills :

Voila

Voila That's why I do it with PuGs. It's not nearly as long, and I find them fairly reliable for Duncan. The point of the thread is that it's so easy with a PuG but it takes so long to get one together. I'd join an PvE dungeon run guild, but my guild needs me -.-

I agree, it's most frustrating.

I find it hilarious that in the first couple of weeks of EOTN coming out, it was impossible to find others players to do Slavers with. Apparentely because it took most of those players long to beat the EOTN game, even though many good players beat it in a day or two.

Now a few months after release, instead of no players available to do Slavers, thanks to those slow to beat EOTN, likely-not-so-good-at-GW players now being there en masse, there's tons of players available to do Slavers. But they have imposed an elitist Deep/Urgoz/DOA style of not welcoming anyone to ever play who doesn't happen to be of a cookie cutter build and cookie cutter class.

Normal balanced > Tank builds. I tank too in slavers, but I usually run a regular warrior.
