Lowered Level Access for Entry into Eye of the North

* Characters can now enter Eye of the North as early as level 10 by accepting the quest "XXX" from either Len Caldoron in Lion's Arch, Minister of Maintenance Raiugyon in Kaineng Center, or Bendah in Kamadan.
* Players who are between levels 10 and 19 and are in Eye of the North maps will automatically receive a buff called Journey to the North. This buff grants players a base Health of 480 and bonuses to their attributes, and replaces their current armor level with the max armor level for that class until they reach level 20.
* The Journey to the North buff sets one attribute to rank 12 and three additional attributes to rank 9. The effect overrides the player's current ranks in all attributes and places 12 ranks in the attribute of the weapon the player is wielding, 9 ranks in that player's primary attribute, 9 ranks based on the attribute of the focus or shield the player is wearing (if applicable), and 9 ranks based on the skills on the player's Skill Bar until the player has three attributes with 9 ranks in them.
* Upon reaching level 20, the Journey to the North buff goes away the next time that player enters a new zone.
* Players new to Eye of the North can now receive a basic max damage weapon by completing the Hero Tutorial quest given by Burol Ironfist in Boreal Station. Once completed, players receive a Burol Ironfist's Commendation item that can be turned in to Arkor Leadfoot in Boreal Station for a weapon of their choosing.
* A new armorer, Jolvor Stoneforge, has been added to Boreal Station to give players a cheaper source of basic max level armor in the Eye of the North expansion.


Updated PvP Rewards

* Tolkano, the Tournament NPC, now sells Zaishen Keys for either 5,000 Balthazar faction or 5 Tournament Reward Points. These keys open the Zaishen Chest on the Isle of the Nameless. Tolkano can be found in the Great Temple of Balthazar, the Hero Battles outpost, and all guild halls.
* The Zaishen Chest is located on the Isle of the Nameless at the top of the stairs near the location of The Guide.
* The Hall of Heroes chest now grants players a Zaishen Key in addition to the normal drops they receive.


Guild Hall

Three new NPC upgrades are available for guild halls. Members may speak to the Guild Lord in their hall to purchase these upgrades for their guild.

* Canthan Ambassador: allows viewing of guild halls available for purchase.
* Guild Emblemer: allows the guild leader to change the guild's cape without leaving the guild hall.
* Festival Hat Keeper: gives guild members access to an NPC who can remember and reproduce special festival hats they have acquired.


Bug Fixes

* Fixed a bug that caused players to complete the first discovery location in the Tengu Peace Accords bonus mission pack mission during the end cinematic while in Discovery Mode.


Miscellaneous

* Flasks of Firewater now provide 3 minutes of drunk effect upon a single consumption.
* Lockpicks now drop in Eye of the North maps in normal mode at the same rate that keys drop in other regions.

Just used 2 keys on the chest
1 was a flask of firewater ....
2 was a tattoed scimitar - max and inscribable

P**ded off cos i traded 45k balth to tournie tokens before the announcement. Wonder if it takens tournie tokens? (wishing anet see...)

I got 2 Creme Brulee and 1 Ranger Tome.

Meh, not bad I guess.

Does not count for Treasure Hunter by the way.

By the way, doesn't the "level 10 req" now allow people to farm Monument Tapestries by creating a level 10 and getting a Tapestry over and over?

The new armor for rits is just canthan armor. The weapons are a mix from all weapon crafters, oh well i still got BMP weps

Why would anyone need to farm Tapestries?

If its not been said already, Jolver's armor is the Tyrian skin.

EDIT: This was on my ele.

I'm guessing A's and Rt's get Canthan and P's and D's get Elonian.

I got a bronze shield and a Firewater from the chest.

These are the two things im stoked for

I suppose the PvE part of the update is good for people who bought the Proph/GWEN bundle, they don't have to get to Droks to get max armor and can get into GWEN without levelling slowly thru Proph, but otherwise it's fairly irrelevant for most folks.

Where do you get Zaishen Key?

just take the shitty consumables out of the chest and it'll be great

Replace those with celerity's, armors of salvation, power stones and grails!

My guess is: No.

I like this...now characters under level 20 can get heroes of their own. One thing..are these heroes level 20 for these level 10-19 characters?

It'll be forever before I'm able to start spending balth faction on keys instead of skill unlocks, as I don't PvP much other than occasional AB. I guess this is just a reward for PvP'ers...which is alright.

used 10 keys got an elite para tome, r12 sailent daggers a r9 runic blade and a bunch of firewaters, crem brulee's and non elite tomes.

already have a runic but anyway

No wai. I like having alternative ways of getting alcohol. Until this chest and the Snowman lair came along, my main source of alcohol was festivals (I don't have the inclination to pay 100K +ectos for alcohol thanks).

LOL journey to the north = Powerleveling with quests??

Can't redeem tournament tokens for keys = megafail anet. This was one of the reasons people wanted something to spend faction and the stacks of tokens on after they've unlocked everything.

Please fix.

new armor pics anyone?

Cheaper as in cheaper than the 10k armor or discounted 1k armors.

all eotn armor is 10k+ a piece, its probably the same armor as in droknars

lol even better, got kilroy stonekins punchout with scrolls, you will get to lvl20 in two 7 minute runs, thats some serious powerleveling right there

anyway i got 13 keys from 65k of balthazar faction, i had a feeling i was going to use it so i stacked it up.

i got this:

1 mursaat hornbow r10
1 kris daggers r9
1 fire staff(canthan skin) r9
1 kamas r13
2 ranger tomes(non elite)
3 creme brule
3 mesmer tomes

NICE 21 Keys wasted!



Consumables = Fail....

Opened the chest 17 times. Gold 6 golds, 2 creme, 7 Flasks, ranger tome and a Tonic.


The cage for the dwarf that has the sign "Please Don't Feed the Dwarf" is back in Kamadan.
Am I the only one who has noticed this or am I just late?

Awh.. I almost got excited there. Well.... not like max armor is that hard to get.

It's just existing armour offered in a different place.

3 Firewaters, 1 Creme Brule and a crap Gothic Axe.
