You can really put pressure on yourself and beat GWEN in a little over 4 hours.
What Anet is trying to do is advertise their product for the holiday season and thats good marketing. Its not too short.

Got a question. After the 5 Hour Trial do the ppl get to KEEP there Hero's? Or do they go away just like the Beta Weekend did? Got couple guildies that didn't get EoTN and want to do the weekend but don't want to waste money putting stuff on the Hero's if can't keep them for good.

For 5 hours you can easily complete 1 of the primary quests ( if you only do the primary quest ). Do that with a survivor and get 30K exp . (triple exp 3* 10k)
Seriously though be glad u can do 5 hours of eotn. If you wanted to check out gwen more you should have gotten the Pre-Order (Which has real nice bonus weapons for your hero's ).
I still don't own gwen, but have the pre-order and playing the trial now. Maybe I'll get it when it's a bit cheaper, maybe not. But I'm not complaining about the free stuff

To all of them who respond with 'buy it' or 'do you expect to get it for free' or something simular:
This event is meant to make us buy the expansion. It's meant to make us enthusiastic. Therefore we should be able to get an overall picture of GW:EN containing at least the highlights of what we can expect after buying it. My current impression is:
Quests take many hours getting from portal to portal without towns to set a waypoint; droprates are exremely low; GW:EN heroes are no better than my own heroes. Overall impression: Nothing special.
Yet... I strongly have the feeling that there is much more, but I did not encounter it. Maybe because I was unlucky in the choices I made in doing quests, taking the wrong routes, whatever.
No, I don't need content for free. I am in the position that I can buy whatever game I LIKE. That's the keyword. And if I had a full weekend of trying the expansion, and like what I see, I would buy it!
And now for someting entirely different:
I notice a new (well for me hehe) abbriviation: QQ. What does it mean???

Guys, the primary story in GWEN is very short. Takes well less than 10 hours to complete. They can't make it a 10 hour trial. Simple as that.

I got kicked out of a dungeon when my 5 hours ended ¬¬

so i guess when you enter a fancy resturant you want them to clear all the tables so you can be seated instantly?

I started the Asura quest and it turned out to be an endless tracking quest through the mountains. I've no clue how far I got, but it takes way too long to complete. Not in the 2.5 hours that I have left since I have to start it all over again. I wonder if I can do ANY quest in that time. This is not what I expected. In 5 hours one can do a lot of things in a pre-searing environment, but nothing at all in a huge landscape with high level enemies. Anyway, I pick one of th 2 other quests tomorrow, hoping its possible to complete one in the time left and get a decent reward. Droppings until now was only some whites and 1 purple. *Sigh!* |
Atleast you have the potential to see alot more in 5 hours. Stop winging and enjoy the opportunity. Your not getting more then you would for any trial version of a game.
If you try it and you like it.. you buy it!

Thats cheaper then a movie, and thats if you buy full retail price in shops.
but yeah, roughly 5 hours into the game is all anyone got at the preview weekend, at least ye can decide what quests you want to take
Navaros
They have to make the trial short because if it was much longer everyone would beat the game within the trial time, and then not buy it. EOTN is very easy to beat in one day. No one's gonna buy a game that they already beat.
ValaOfTheFens
I needed this bad. I'm getting the full version of EoTN later and needed to complete a bunch of the quests from the last preview. Not actually doing the quests...just turning them in. I dunno why but I didn't turn most of them in. I'm done with the Norn quests now and can finally concentrate on something doing The Knowledgeable Asura later on. I hope my guildies can get on later and enjoy the trial. Its not as good as the preview but at least you can do any quest rather than just the Norn ones.
Nuclfus
Since most of GW:EN's content is the dungeons, I wouldn't say rushing yourself through the plot is the same as "beating the game". But from helping my guildie tour GW:EN with his trial, I think 5 hours was plenty. We got him Jora, Pyre, a full dungeon, and time left over for some fun in the Norn tournament. He's planning to buy it within the week.
