The begining of the death cry, or How to slowly kill a game.

Ok, so I've completed all 4 games to death on most classes. Done everything with no real challenges ahead of me. Yes, I've moved on to other games. (I bought the Golden Axe trilogy amongst other Mega Drive games for the PS2. Old games are far better than the new ones churning out recently.)
Now, they release something for fun to make the game at least a LITTLE more interesting and you want to nerf it saying "THE GAME IS DYING! THE REDCOATS ARE COMING! I CAN'T FEEL MY LEGS!" Uh... Tell you what. How about you actually come back and defend your points rather than making one post and pissing off?

Just change game if you're unhappy.
You see, it's just that: a game. You have WoW, or Wii, or sport, or having sex with your girlfriend, if you're bored with GW.
Just stop, take a breath, and come back later.

Remember how hard your first DoA run was when you didnt have the CC builds that allowed you to steamroll everything if you had the trinity How difficult it was to get a team that didnt run these builds, each understanding their roles and having exactly the right build and nothing else in order to get to and beat Mallyx? Only players who really understood how to read and who had the correct skillbars could do it. |

Let's take Half Life 2 as an example: It has a god mode cheat. You can play it if you want, but all you're really doing is shooting guys and standing there.
When you're made invulnerable, you don't have to worry about bad decisions and their consequences, you don't have to think about more tactical decisions, you don't have to fret about running out of ammo since you can just run up and hit them, etc. etc.
Basically, the game is just dumbed down to a point where you're just looking at pretty graphics and cool effects.

"...Anet, dont you realise what you are doing to our game? Or are these overpowered skills and eroding of team standards a deliberate attempt to slowly kill it off so that by the time GW2 comes out GW will be unrewarding and unplayable?
By refusing to nerf UB you are telling us that it is deliberate.

Most of your players will never read your website, never visit fansites, and never participate in forum discussions. We are often immersed in the community forums and rants and raves posted to game fansites, and it is easy to lose perspective about the knowledge level of most of our players. Players who participate in fansites and send six-page emails to your community team are experts at your game – they probably know more about it than you do – so it’s important to realize that they do not represent the average player. The vast majority of your players are not digging into every detail of every spell or creating lists of animations so that they can react when they see the basilisk twitch its nose. They want to play, not study, so take care to create a game that allows them to do so..."

- Yeah I remember how insanely boring it was with 1 health necro saccer bibber and obsidian tank warrior stealing all drops in Stygian Veil.... me doing nothing but casting Heal Party on tank that was radar range away. I played that piece of $h1t for two hours before burn-out. I'm glad there's at least alternatives now. - Excuse me!? - So any noob of any profession can actually get something done in the game now? Are you just so full of shit you don't want anyone else to even come near to your precious farming spots? You don't share my sympathy, go jump off a bridge. - Well guess what? What you did on day one has absolutely no relevance to what game is like today! ANET is making this game based on popular demand and if you want nothing but farm some stupid endgame area alone, you're going to be left out. Haha, I guess you're pissed about loot scaling too, since "every noob out there can have gold items" and you're 55 monking won't get you 100+ectos anymore. - So you're complaining about elitist jackasses back then and now you've turned into one? - If "majority of players" would indeed jump off a bridge, I guess you would follow them, because "majority of players" dictate what you can or cannot do in the game. m I rite? - Yes, long live communism!!! |

2. If someone finds playing God mode in HL2 fun, who am I to judge how they enjoy the game they paid for? How does that person playing God mode on his system affect me? Answer: It doesn't. Just because that person is doing it, doesn't mean that I have to as well.
Just like I don't care about some guy running solo through HL2 with Godmode on, I don't care about some team running through DOA using UB. It doesn't affect me. I can still choose not to use God mode on my system, just like I can choose to not use UB, or any skill (pve or otherwise) in my own instance.
I'm convinced this thread is from a regular poster who just wanted to start another UB cry thread without having it tied to his/her main account.

They know that they are just using hyperbole in a sad (read: very sad) attempt to feel better about how they choose to kill the monsters in PvE.

And in regards to a lot of people not using it yet, it's been shown frequently in GW that people will run what's easiest.

Remember how elite DoA used to be? Remember all those frustrated wammos or 'sins begging to be let onto a team? It really annoyed me the first time i arrived there, it seemed so elitist. But as i learned the builds and joined teams it taught me to be a better player and to understand the game, and i remember the satisfaction of finally beating mallyx after many evenings getting pwned by a bit of over aggro after hours in the foundry. |
It's funny you mention DOA, because no one played in there other than those who use cookie cutter skills (and cookie cutter classes only) exactly like UB. The only difference being UB can be used by every class, and the elitist players who used to have a monopoly on having their cookie cutter builds and cookie cutter classes be the only ones who can "ruin" the game now have some "competition" in that regard, which makes them envious. The frustrated classes weren't frustrated because they didn't understand DOA mechanics, but rather because they were 100% unwelcome to ever even participate in any DOA parties simply by virtue of what class they are. Period.
UB doesn't need more nerfing. It never needed any nerfing. Players complaining about UB making the game "easy" need nerfing. UB just adds one more to an endless list of easy options that are available to masscre any area of the game with. UB is no big deal, and should be unnerfed. All nerfing UB does is take the fun out of having another option to play with, and accomplishes nothing.
