Sooo... I used to play Guild Wars all the time on a dial-up connection. I only occasionally lagged, but for hte most part, it played great. Then I got a new internet connection, one that i thought would be better, Wildblue, a satellite connection service. Turns out it made the lag about 3x as bad. My other web pages load extremely fast but when it comes to Guild Wars, a steady 1.4k ping. I want to play again bad. Any suggestions on how I can fix this dilemma? I've heard a router and turning off Firewall's is good but anything else? Please help me!!!

Probably a routing issue.

Satellite internet connections are notoriously bad for gaming.

Sat sucks for gaming because of how long it takes to go from you to the sat and back down. NEVER get Sat if you plan on playing any type of online games.

Satellite has a nice download speed, but a really, really, REALLY bad upload. And because you have to send stuff while gaming, that's why you lag.

Cable / ADSL ftw. But you're probably unable to get that

Satellite is awful for gaming.. Where you need the good ping to play. You browse and surf the internet fine as websites don't need really that good of a ping...
