Open up another opportunity to get the Bonus Mission Pack
Togedude
I made a thread asking if there was yet another opportunity to somehow get the Bonus Mission Pack. Unfortunately, I found out that there was no way to get it other than through that promotion.
I'm not trying to whine here, but it does seem a little unfair to me. My computer was broken from July to September, and even afterwards, my Internet didn't even work until November (thank you, Comcast). I saw that the promotion was already over, which made me sad because I really wanted it.
I'm a loyal customer with 3 Guild Wars campaigns. Eye of the North would have been my $30+ purchase, but I haven't yet bought it in the hope that Anet will somehow give access to the promotion one more time.
I know that my incident was a rare one, but still; is it really fair to offer customers a "you snooze, you lose" promotion and then refuse to offer customers that didn't/couldn't participate by shutting off access to that content forever?
My suggestion is that the Bonus Mission Pack be made available to anybody who spends $30 or more in the Guild Wars Store AT ANY TIME. I don't see what the downside would be; it still equally encourages people to buy from there, but it's also fair to people with freak incidents like me :P. Thanks for reading!

I feel for you, but couldn't you have gone to a friend's house, and download the Guild Wars client onto their computer for the sole purpose of doing the promotion?

I don't agree. The whole point is to get people using the online store. If it's available all the time then people will pay their 30bucks then never use the store again. If they use it within a promotion period that means people are forced to make sporadic purchases at certain times, promoting more cash flow, as people may have previously used the online store for things they needed, thus could possibly be buying things they DON'T need to qualify. It's good marketing, and if it makes more revenue for Anet I'm all for more promotions. Running it permanently is counter-productive from a marketing perspective.

Your complaints fall on deaf ears. We're not Anet.

For what it's worth I think there will be another way of getting the Bonus Pack, but not until next Summer - perhaps linked to the purchase of a 'mini expansion' ?(iirc Anet have said that the possibility of mini-expansions [Gwen-like?] between now and GW2 has not been ruled out)
That way people who did the promotion in the first place (I'm one of them by the way) don't feel too aggrieved at losing the advantage they paid over-the-odds in the online store to get (GW:EN £24.99 from ingame store vs £17.99 from everywhere else), but people who either wouldn't or (in the case of some who didn't know anyone with a credit card) couldn't do the promotion aren't permanently locked out of some really nice bits of GW backstory.

Before you worry too much about having an opportunity to get the mission pack you should find out from others is it worth the hassle.
Do you know just what you get.?
I have the pack and bought 3 extra character slots to get it, Im happy with that it was my choice.
You get 4 missions that while good do not bear repeating endlessly, they might if you could vary character class or skills but since they use a fixed character and skillset thats out.
What do you get
You get the weapons of the character you play, they are blue items and are ok.
If you finish a mission you get to choose a gold weapon with a free inscription slot.
This comes down to any weapon type and 4 different skin types.
They are customised so you cannot sell them just use them on the character that wins them or their heroes.
So if you repeat the missions lots of times you can equip all your characters and heroes with every type of weapon you could wish for.
Since I have the bonus items from factions ce and NF ce, Gwen and the 1million edition upgrade I have all the weapons my heroes could possibly want.
Its certainly a nice idea and is quite enjoyable to play, but then I got it as a free promotion, I doubt many would be happy paying much for it.
just my view anyway.

I have to agree with you on this one... I would have been so mad if i had to pay for this pack. I mean I was going to get my GWEN in the first place and I need more toon slots as well so. it was a perk. :-) but payin for it I would have snapped.

A store has a promotion, where they're selling plasma screen TVs for half price, one day only. You don't know about the promotion, or even better, your car is broken that day so you can't get to the store. When you find out about it, or when your car gets fixed, you drive to the store and demand that the manager sells you a TV for half price, because he had a promotion the day before where he was doing that. Do you expect him to actually give you the TV at half price?
That's not how promotions work. Lo siento; wait for the next one (if there is one).
Swift Thief
They would get more money if they sold it separately though.

No. I got GW:EN for mine like most other people. I didn't enjoy the BMP that much anyway. It was nice having some story filled in, but I only got maybe 5 hours worth of play.

More to the point, I think it would make sense for anet to make it an ongoing offer, starting at some date onward, once you spend $30 in the online store you unlock the bmp, because it gets people using their store, and it gets more people in the store spending $30 than a limited time offer did, and most importantly it allows everybody to play the bmp (I've already got it but it's not as fun when none of my friends have it, and I'm sick of people asking me "what axe is that?"). /endrunon

It is instead applicable to this promotion:
http://www.guildwars.com/products/ex...ks/default.php
In the case I linked, you know the price of the product, and you know that if you buy before Dec 31st you pay half price.
After that, you can buy whenever you want, the product will be available the following month, the following 6 months and so on.
The only difference is that you will have to pay for the full price, of which you are aware since now.
So if you grab the promotion, you pay half, once you lose it you have the possibility to buy the product, but pay the full price.
That's what I call a promotion.
BMP was something different, and IMO was a very badly designed marketing operation, which I always criticized.
Star Gazer
jesus christ, how many of these RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOing threads will there be before you get it through your heads that this was a PROMOTION. Sorry, you wont get it. Next time, listen to anet when they say "LIMITED TIME ONLY!" for about 4 months.
