how to /report when the correct category isn't available?

I've seen several players over the last couple of days selling GW accounts for ______ gold and well I try to /report them but there isn't really a category for it.

Botting --- nope
Innapropriate character name --- nope
spamming --- nope
verbal abuse --- nope
leeching --- nope

I really don't want to have to screenshot the player and send in a ticket to support so is there a category that covers selling accounts?

On a side note, how do u /report players who leave teams in RA?...there also appears to not be a category for it and its been happening quite frequently to me recently

I'd go ahead and report for spamming, cause, It kinda is spam, and when A-Net sees what they were saying, they might take action.. who knows, never care enough to /report people.

I'd classify it as spamming as well.

Maybe they need an "other" category and you can type in a short sentence.

If there's not a decent category with the /report feature, you're usually forced to go through the actual support site. :| I'm not sure how Anet looks at saying that's "spam," but I hope they wouldn't take action against a person for misuse of the feature.

ANet won't do anything anyways.

I sent in photo proof of someone saying they wanted to pay external currency for a GW item, and lo and behold three days later they were online.

Eh, give them a break. They're probably digging through hundreds if not thousands of reports everyday. Who knows, maybe they get warnings first instead of bans. Secondly, it's nothing to be obsessively upset about, since it probably won't affect you...

Anyways, I'd go with the Spamming category as well. Why exactly would someone want gold for an account when they're giving it away anyways? (Don't answer that >_>)

Probably a scam.

I use the spam option when reporting gold/account sellers. Dunno how well it works, but it's the closest one there is.

Since almost all gold sellers I've seen will sit there and post over and over again even if they are the only ones talking in the district, the spamming category fits.

I use the "Spamming" catergory as well.

I just hope A-Net realizes that that's how people are reporting these bozos.

Awhile ago I asked support what option to use for reporting those account buyers, since theres no EULA Violation option.

Apparently it don't matter what option you use to report them.

So while it makes it easier for us if you report a violation in its appropriate category, we will review and verify this reported violation anyway. While we are constantly looking into expanding the available options for the report feature, we are happy about all reports, even if they do not have their own categories.

I had someone tell me they were going to report me for spamming because I didnt buy the weapon they were selling. I said I would at first but changed my mind, so what... but luckily the moron used some bad language in his tantrum that I said Id report him for that, lame, i didnt report him but this example just shows that 99% of reports are from greifers anyway. I rarely see anyone worth reporting im sure this feature is abused to no end. Anet shouldnt waste 1 second on it. You people should get a life and stop calling 911 every minute except for emergencies!!


Reminds of one time I was at the police station taking care of some business and heard the dispatcher talking with a /report happy moron calling the cops on someone who through an apple core out the window of his car. ??? seriously "did he throw the apple at you?"

Anet needs to add alot more catergories to the report function, because I find myself wanting to report players for stuff that doesnt fall under any of them.

But I expect Anet did that on purpose to limit what we report, because otherwise we could report anything and everything.

They need to add a text field to add a desription though.

also they do keep records of who is submitting false reports and stated that the abuser will be temp banned after x number of false reports.

I agree. A text field on the reports would help out a lot. Sometimes I just feel uncomfortable or scared I may get banned for repord something. If I had a written explanation in the report, then I'd feel safer.

Yeah. Gold sellers = Report as Spam. Alternatively, you could just report them via the support website. Link can be found on the official site..

The list of petty things people would get reported for would make the system totally useless.

ROFL... I could see something like that happening if an other category was available but I dont' think it would be quite so severe . Remember, ppl abusing the /report system get banned themselves.
