Ancestor's Rage - Damage not being displayed?
MywayFtw
Hey
I was using Ancestors Rage quite a bit last night, in UW. Was casting it on the main tanks/melee, mainly the Dervish and the Warrior.
I targeted them, and used it, however I saw no indication of damage, like a yellow '100' or whatever on the enemy. I wasnt looking at their healthbar...and by default im assuming that it IS doing the damage.
Does it only show up for the person buffed with it, i.e. the Dervish/Warrior?
Oh, and there were no problems with 'adjacent', there was definitely enemies close to the tanks.

It's just like Splinter Weapon. You buff them, and they get credited for the damage.
How frustrating!

Yeah...although tanks clearly know when we're around usin' it on them. I'll echo Ancestors' Rage on the tanks, they seem to get a kick out of that.
(Those used to be MY yellow numbers!)

(Those used to be MY yellow numbers!) Yeah, had a couple of tanks cheering at me in FoW
Ah well...nice to know it still deals a ton of damage

Sir Pandra Pierva
as long as they dont take claim for the dmg I am fine with it the way it is.

That it does.
For some reason, the person buffed with Rage sees the damage, as it's them 'doing' the damage.
An interesting note, though - Rage's damage is affected by the level of whatever creature you cast it on; in the same way spells deal less/more damage based on level difference.
Casting Rage on a level 28 Flesh Golem hurts, basically.

I pretty much always have hero rit with me with both splinter and rage. Just because I get to watch all those lovely high numbers all over my screen

Casting Rage on a level 28 Flesh Golem hurts, basically. zOMG, I never though about this, but it makes perfect sense. Playing a death necro hero with my Rit might be worth it!

Casting Rage on a level 28 Flesh Golem hurts, basically. Some quick numbers:
Ancestor's Rage at 14 spec, doing 123 damage when cast on:
Level 24 Ally = 151 Damage
Level 26 Ally = 168 Damage
Level 28 Ally = 186 Damage
Level 30 Ally = 207 Damage

Very nice, never knew about the level thing.
If I remember correctly when I played a rit a year or so ago damage from AR did show up for the caster. But it was a spell back then and had no delay etc.

anyone got a proof with the ancestor's rage thing being dependant on your target's level? never heard of this, never noticed this, and generally can't believe this.
Tab
I've never heard of it either, but it sounds believable. It's well known that higher level creatures have a damage bonus against lower levels, and as Rage treats the damage as belonging to whoever you cast it on, the damage bonus should apply to it too.
Gogo Flesh Golem MF + Rage spike?

So the damage shown in the screens:
Ancestor's rage should do 110 damage (12 attribute points into channeling) and all tests were done on a suit of 60 armor.
When using ancestor's on a lvl 1 minion -> 41 damage
When using ancestor's on a lvl 7 minion -> 56 damage
When using ancestor's on a lvl 14 minion -> 81 damage
When using ancestor's on myself(lvl 20) -> 110 damage
This should be enough proof ?
EDIT:
Tried it with a necro now(to test on higher level allies).
I had 12 in channeling again, and the damage is on a suit of 60 armor aswel. 150 damage was done now.

Awesome. Simply awesome. Never knew that, but its a really useful tip, thanks guys =D

If you cast Splinter on Ebon Vanguard Assassin it shows you doing the damage so I think Ancestor's Rage would do the same thing so you can check how much damage it really is it doing.

You summoned the Assassin so all the damage done by that Assassin is considered yours ,and will be shown on your screen. Same goes for using splinter/ancestor's on a minion.
