The Dredge in GW2
Mark Nevermiss
Do you think they will be eternally grateful to humans for having liberated them from Stone Summit slavery or will they realize they are stronger than those puny humans and conveniently forget?

I think it has been stated in that pc gamer magizine that the Dredge take up the old dwarven cities in the southern shiverpeaks, and are fighting with the Norn down there. May be mistaken however.

They are likely going to be a playable race in Gw2 if you come to think about it.

We have them appearntly taking over old Dwarven Territories and going at it with the Norn.
We will be playing Human, Asura, Norn, Sylvari and Charr. ANet has said that is not all of the races as of yet. The Norn and Charr have respect for each other, so why not have the Dredge as a playable race, the classic yet always important "Get over your differences or die!" scenario breaks down in Gw2 for ALL the races.

There is no naga, and no dredge. 90% sure they aren't hiding a race.
And I think that the dredge in Tyria might remember the humans, but they might also associate them with the Norn and kill all.

Races Guild Wars 2 will introduce several new playable races. The five playable races announced so far are: * Asura * Charr * Human * Norn * Sylvari Different races will have different advantages and disadvantages, for example the Norn will be able to shapeshift into a half-bear half-human, with increased health and melee damage. It is presently not known what advantages other races will have. |
Please, for your sake and continuation of your time at the Guru Forums Mango, take the same stance.

There's no way that ANet has told us everything about GW2. They've only told us enough to spark our interest and will probably release more little tidbits of info about new features as time goes on to keep us interested. And as the game is still in development, there will probably be a lot of things in the final game that ANet hasn't even thought up yet.
Never know - the Dredge may be making an appearance as a playable race at some point. Perhaps the Centaurs and Tengu will as well; at this point we have no way of knowing anything for sure.

I would think that they would make centaurs a playable race more than they would the Dredge. The Centaurs will at least make an accord with the humans sort of like what the Charr and the Norn will do. The Dredge don't seem to really want to get along with anybody which is the main reason why I don't think that they'll be playable. There has to be some reason for the Dredge to want to ally with some of the other races. Such as it is I don't see them doing such. Nor do I see the Naga either.
I could also see the Tengu as being a playable race as well more than the Dredge or the Naga. Some of the Tengu did manage to come to peace with humans in Cantha. Although who knows what will become of that peace with the future emperor of Cantha. The Tengu in Tyria may also come to some sort of an accord as well. Or they may be mercilessly hunted by the Norn as they march south, who knows. The Norn probably see the Tengu as prey already anyways.
Instead of the Naga though I could possibly see the forgotten as being a playable race too. While the chance of that I think is less than that of the Tengu or the Centaurs, I still believe that they will be more likely a playable race than the Dredge.
But, who knows.

Hmm, in my opinion, mostly likely to least likely out of those mentioned:
1. Tengu
2. Centaurs (Doubtful since they supposedly go feral.)
3. Dredge
4. Naga
5. Forgotten
