Who really uses major runes? and what uses?
Lord Sojar
I don't even use Superior runes since the update to Majors many moons ago. The only things that need that boost IMO are MM's (for 16 death), fire eles (for extra DPS), and BiP Necros because lower hp = goooood. Other then that, sups can go to hell. In PvP they are just not used except for a few rare builds. I stick to minors and majors, all dependent on build.

I use major vigor's on my heroes because I think sup vigor's are to expensive to put on heroes.
For my own characters I allways have a full minor armour set and a full sup armour set. That way I can switch between minor's and sup's at will which I find to give me the most flexibility.

I use majors all the time. Only superior I ever use now is vigor. Though on my touch ranger I will use superior expertise because that actually makes a huge difference in energy saves whereas the extra damage from a superior vs a major isn't worth the extra 40 hps one gives up for that. 40hps comes into play more often than 2pts of damage per hit mainly because I have to HIT to get that extra damage and many a time I've survived by having that extra 40 hps vs damage. Majors rule now, anyone using superiors especially more than one is just a high risk player and in pvp more than likely gonna take a big fall and fast using so many.
SleetDragon
I use Major runes alot because superiors take too much health in some casses and its easier to gain benefits of =4 extra attributes with -70 health than just 3 for -75 Health. Price is never a problem for me so. If I want a Sup Rune I will buy it, but I don't usually ever consider a price unless its like a Superior Vigor because just for 9 Health it costs 10K plus extra not exactly worth it, but hey if that floats your boat who am I to judge. I say do your own thing if you wanna use em, do it if not then ok use something else lol. Its as simple as making the decision for yourself because no one in this forum collectively is gonna give you a straight answer on this.
Arkantos
Only time I use a major rune is when I need an extra 1 attribute to meet the break point of a skill. Other then that, I stick with minors.

Majors for heros only - IF I use them.
I only use minors or NO runes (vigor/vitae only!!) on my characters.
661-670 hp goes so much further then that 3 more damage!

Yep, I use Majors for heroes I don't want to spend large amounts on, and Major Vigor runes in general because I can actually justify the price.
Edge Martinez
I use a major deadly arts rune on my AB assassin, mostly because I found I needed that extra bit of damage, and did not want the hp loss from a supe.

In pve:
I only use major runes on my melee chars and ranger
Necro, ele, meser, monk have sup runes because they almost never get hit by dmg
In pvp
Minors and majors all the way

Always use a major on you melee / ranger phisical attacker, the damage is pretty the same but you don't loose the crazy 75hp, just 35 which is a equal deal. For casters go with sup in pve, always minor max major in pvp.
Antheus
Minors only (except for MM which runs superior).
75 health, or 35 for that matter is simply too much to give up for anything.
Survivor insignias and vitae runes for the rest.

I use several major runes.
I run major heal or prot and major divine on my monks. Although occassionally I use Sup heal or prot with the maj divine. Usually not much of a diff, so 2 maj helps me keep my hp up. 500 hp and 50 energy suits my monks well.
I use 3 majors on my rangers (exp, marks, wild) usually. I'll run a Sup beast and maj exp if I'm doing a pet build.
My eles run Sup rune of their element and maj energy storage.
I used to run 2 sup runes on my mm, but dropped my reaping down to a major for the slight hp bump. Besides, I don't need that much energy return for most of my builds.
My wars run all Sup runes.
So on and so forth. Rune prices don't affect me at all normally. I have 2 mules that carry nothing BUT the runes I've been saving. What affects what runes I use are as follows: my build, my hp, and my energy (depending on the character). Majors generally do the job just fine.
I use this for both PvE and what little PvP I play. I do just fine. =)

I run dual majors (blood and curses) on my SS Necro build. There are just so many Blood and Curses spells that have great synergy.

My Ranger heroes have 12 Marksman (10+2), 13 Expertise (10+1(Head)+2) and 12 Beast Mastery (11+1). And I even consider this setup for my ranger pve char.
With two majors I can have both high marksmanship and expertise at 14 when running pure marksmen/BHA/whatever builds.
Though I was thinking about reducing this to ONE major rune, as 11 Beast Mastery would make a difference (just like for weapons), but I guess it would still work with my usual Barrage/Pet builds.
All my other heroes however only run minor runes, especially the close combat fighter types. My MM has Sup Death, and my Ele Heroes Sup Fire, too. Plus the luxury of superior vigor for my main char heroes, since they became cheap and I swim in gold after vanquishing and doing HM dungeons.
EDIT: Oh, seems a lot of people use major marksman/expertise runes on rangers.

Depends on the situation. Price is no barrier. One superior + minors or Two majors + minors

Simple as that. |
I tend to use majors if my hp in combination with my armor allows it. For example, on paragons i run major spear or leadership.
In pve u can run majors a lot more tho, cause there aint no spikes there.

majors for the most part, I only use superiors if I salvage them (too poor to buy them). My 2 year old characters all have superiors I believe, but seeing as I only got my first sup vigor 2 months ago, all of them only have major vigors. I like the vitaes and survivor inscriptions and have replaced many of the minor runes my character had with them.
Heros get majors, only sup death and healing I think (and absorption, got tons of those recently).

I use minors on all heros save the necro mm. I also use minors on myself save fire and when I go ob/earth tank.
Kusandaa
I run with sups on most of my chars, minors on my warrior. I also run with fortitude mods (or +45^enchanted, depends of the builds) and with different armor sets. I don't that much, really... when I don't pay attention and get spiked really bad. I just kite all the time and run on over aggro.
But then I mostly play midline/backline in PvE, except in The Deep because I'm asked to take initiative/lead, therefore I play war a lot, and I run minors.
So the more I think about it, the more I agree with those who say that PvE is easy enough. Even with sups :P. I like my damage, kthxbye.

I've actually gone from using superiors to using majors to using minor runes nowadays. I usually think getting that extra health is better than +1 in an attribute when using majors or minors.
DarkGanni
Personally I use Major on ranger, warrior or sin, and Normally Sup on casters except monk as I use major on that.

I run one major on pretty much everything. I've stopped paying attention to breakpoints except for extremely specialized builds like Toucher or Trapper. I ran 2 majors for a long time on my Ranger, but changed that maybe a year ago. The Sin I took through Factions ran 2 majors, so I could run 12/13/12 in DM/CS/SA. I don't even bother kitting my Ele heroes with Sup Fire. If 15 isn't enough, something else is wrong. But I almost never use Fire Ele heroes. Poor Sousuke. Much rather have Whispers running Curses or even Norgu.
Sparks Dawnbringer
I have been trying to use 2 majors on my heros instead of one superior. It seems to work well especilally for the heros you want to put points into 3 atributes.

My Warrior uses a major strength and major swordmanship.
This way I have swordmanship on 15 (+1 from helmet) and strength on 14. The main reason is that I wanted to make a damage dealer that can also take a hit. I use sentinel armour for that reason which serves me well, however since weakening causes your attributes to go down by 1 and you need a minimum of 13 to run sentinel armour fully I needed to raise it to 14. And to not lose too much health I opted for using 2 majors which gives me 5 health back.
Interestingly most of my attack skills are from the strength line so I may not have given up any damage to my attacks.
I do not know the calculations but if someone wants. I use a shocking blade (with +5 energy and +30hp).
Perhaps someone can tell me what the normal damage vs armour 60 would be with power attack with str 13 and sword 16 on the one hand and str 14 and sword 15 on the other.
But I'll leave that for someon who likes doing the math behind it

OK as far as Eles go I prefer Sup runes cuz most are needed
Air-Sup needed for Spike with glyph of ele power
Fire-Just because of the firepower, don't really have any need for it
Water-Hydromancers need sup runes to survive with their enchants, and their firepower only relies on few spike skills like SHatterstone and Vapor Blade or even that Ward for most fire-eles.
Earth-Without Sup rune+1 from head you have lower survivability like Stoneflesh Aura... that is if you decide to go pure one elemental ele which 99% go that way
