Have GW pass item info to auction sites

For this thread I'm assuming that you are aware how systems like Guru auctions work. If you are not sure how the auction sites work please don't post here until you are sure.

I'm also aware that this suggestion would require quite a bit of information passing between ANET and the auction site(s) that Guild Wars sends the data to so that it may prove easier for ANET to build their own auction site instead of having an existing one altered for this.

I propose this idea to:
- Reduce the time taken to type the items stats into its description.
- Reduce people complaining about auctions where the seller hasn't entered the stats.
- Reduce any errors caused by the typing (not that I'm aware of any)
- Attempt to have the auctions include all useful information about the items.
- Increase the number of people using the auction site(s) because this system would advertise the site(s) ANET operates with.

The idea is as follows:

When you have an item in game you want to sell you right click on it and chose which of the auction sites you want to list it on. Guild Wars will then generate a URL from that item and the chosen auction site and pass the URL to your default web browser (I'm pretty sure this is how GW handles wiki searches).

The auction site will then take the URL and know all the stats about the item you are listing. If your not logged in you will login here. Then the site will then produce the new auction page with all the information about the item already filled in, leaving you to only have to enter the pricing and duration options. For example if we are using Guru auctions you would have all the information for step 1, 2 and parts of 3* entered from information contained in the URL.

*Since the skin is known the site can attach a stock image instead of taking a player provided one.

The auction would then proceed as any other auction on there.

Indeed, it saves the trouble of ANet setting up their own auction house. But, really, I don't see this doing a lot of anything. The only thing I can see coming out of this is people being more aware about auction sites where they can legitimately sell GW items for GW gold.

If ANet wants to half-ass the Auction House idea, what you've suggested is what they'll do.

But I doubt that they'll earn many brownie points with players if they half-ass anything, so the only actions I see them taking would be to make the auction system themselves and built into the game, or no action at all.

The concept isn't bad, but it's no great improvement to the Guru Auctions in my mind. Guru Auctions isn't perfect, but it still allows you to buy or sell pretty much everything you need fairly easily.

I would love this idea if I didn't hate the Guru auction section for being slow, having innacurate searches, and not listing the IGN of people in the first place.
