Necro can have 10 minions at higher level than Rit, because a Rit can't use Superior (or any) Death runes, and is limited to max attribute of 12.

If you check the forums you will find a rather nice build for a Rit/N that runs minions, but as stated in first sentence they won't be as numerous or as powerful.

If you are creating the char in NF you can't create a ritualist. Rits can only be created in Factions, so you'd have to create there then cross to nf.

well seeing as you cant make a ritualist in nightfall, i think the answer is pretty clear..

Well... if you mean Nightfall Nec vs Factions Rit...

I'd choose the Nec because there are far more build options to choose from.

Go with Paragon. Forget minions, they get boring REALLY fast. At least, for me they did. I deleted my necromancer with all the necro skills, half the mesmer, 15k necrotic dyed black......yep.

Ritualist. Only because I can't stand the way necromancers look and stand. The male's back is always hunched over and the female has strange faces. Ritualists stand up straight and you can hide their faces.

Oh, I guess I should mention something else about necromancers. I've created quite a few, minion master and not. The minions really do get boring. I hate just sitting back and watching my minions fight. Maybe if I was up there with them, doing something, I'd enjoy it. But as the minion master is, I will not make another.

if you're limiting yourself to only minions, you are truely insulting the profession of necromancer, they are probably the most versatile profession out there... alot of fun when you get the hang of it.

Doesnt Rit's spirit spammer same as a MM? however, one thing different between spirits and minions, minion got legs, spirits dont.

Minions = meatshield

Spirits = not meatshield

Really depends on how you want to use the minions imo

The necro MM has a better chance to get a small army going that mostly just fights and keep them going no matter what.
He can add conditions to the fight and do indirect damage with skills like death nova.
But but mostly he runs a pack of zombies.

The Ritualist has the ability to raise them and to heal, gain energy + do lightning damage when they are created.
So the rit probably uses undead more for the short term.

Boon of creation gives health and energy when you animate
Explosive growth does 56 lightning damage to 5 nearby foes
Spirits gift heals allies that are near the animated creature.
If you animate minions all the effects are X2 per body used.

Necro/Rit or Rit/Necro either will work.

QFT Easily my favorte class because they can do damn near anything, including immitate any other casting class with excellent results. Boundless energy in most situations FTW.

I don't see how necros are more versatile than other casters, including rits.

Well for starters, which other profession can give energy regen, life steal, spread mucho conditions, nuke shit that go BOOM when they die, use minions to control aggro, buff others (orders) and the list goes on... I'm just being lazy.

I didn't know necs could imitate all the other caster classes.
I thought that was the mesmer's forte.

Go for rit if you want to get your hands dirty.
Go for nec if you want to be someone's battery, a minion leash, or SS monkey.

I'm just kidding guys! I prefer necro's over rits, but rits are still lots o' fun.

This is funny.

Anyone remember me having the exact same type of topic not long ago?

It turned out to be like three pages, with the ultimate decision landing on the Ritualist.

The original poster is asking what to create if he wants to run minions.

I think anyone not answering necromancer is being quite silly.

Only when you ignore the fact that Ritualist MMs are pretty gimped due to their lack of Soul Reaping and the ability to hit 14 Death Magic.

The explosions are pretty cool though.
