Revert "Skill pinging"
Tatum
"I'm listening Anthem of Flame!"
"My stance is Flail"
Etc.
Etc.
Do you hate these? - Yep, me too.
Make an TOGGLE option what changes those back, like "I have Anthem of Flame on me!"
With toggle option everyone will be happy.

Like you these things annoy me as they just sound so, different. I know A-net has better stuff to work on but i would love it if this was reverted.

this is waaaaaay down on my list for anet to give a crap about. I understand how it can annoy some but this way it lets people know shouts, enchants etc I think anet was doing the school house rock idea of "Knowledge is Power!"

It makes more sense to say "My stance if Flail!" rather than "I have Flail on me!" I mean come on..

I liked the old one, if only because my derv could say "I have Grenth's Fingers on me!"

Anet has much better things to do with their time. This "Skill Pinging" isn't technically broken, as it doesn't affect the game in a negative way. Let Anet work on things that actually need fixing.

if they have better things to do, like bug fixes for instance and sorting out the microing system for heroes, why did they impliment this in the first place?
MithranArkanere
It was easier, quicker and bug-safer.
Marverick
They could implement a toggle option in the F11 menu to switch between the two modes.

Toggle ftw!
While the new system makes more sense and is much easier to understand for new players who don't know all effect names yet, it's been 3 years of "I have Frenzy on me" so old players really got used to it. And the old thing was far easier to read during combat, much more clear, distinguishable from other stuff on chat.
If I had the option I would switch back, at least for pvp.

You'll get used to it, and then you'll probably like the game just the way it is..

They sound much more natural now, actually.

Does it really matter? No matter what it says, it tells you what stance/enchantment/hex/condition/whatever you have on. I could care less if it said a funny wuzzy bunny dazed me, as long as it says I'm dazed.
~ Dan ~
Because "I have Frenzy on me!" made so much sense.
/notsigned, these new descriptions are much better.

I like the new setup, not just because of noob friendliness. You can inform your team faster what you're affected by presently. You can now read the first few words and know WHAT they're talking about instead of having to read a skill name and re-figure what that skill is (two extra cycles in the brain). So you have more information upfront to make a decision with.
No complaints here from me, but if people really like it the old way, add a toggle as already suggested.

I liked the old way. There was only one place in the bar of text to look to see what the hex/condition/ench was. Any time you saw an "I have" it was something important. I don't care if somebody's "listening to..." oh crap, a shout, I guess I should pay attention to that line.
Plus, I've always said "I have xx on me" on voice chat, it's what seems natural, so that's what I like in game.
In the end, not a big issue, but I prefer the old way.
EDIT: hell, why not spend the time to build in voice chat so we don't have to ping, instead of making useless changes like this in the first place?

I don't really care what they do about this, it has no impact on gameplay whatsoever.
But people saying they have better things to spend time on annoys me, they made the unnecessary change in the first place. The amount of completely unnecessary UI changes which were fine before and now annoy people (ie. fade distance thingy) that are made is ridiculous. I just don't see how they can justify the amount of time it takes to make those sort of changes when as far as I can tell there is no real clamor for such changes. It just seems like anet have a strange set of priorites with things like that.
/signed to adding to a toggle as I think they should only make UI changes to things like this if they add a toggle in the first place.

With the new system you know the Type of the skill withou having to know the skill.
It's better no matter what you say.

It's not such a huge deal that I'll sign the thread, but I'm just saying. For a second there I usually think it's game dialogue or someone being chatty, and I ignore it.
Oh well, I quit healbot monking anyway. :P

They've forgotten to change "I'm talking to Xunlai Chest" and should change xunlai chest to level 200 hehehe so it has 50 sub category. :P

Can they at least change the conditions back? Very long winded now
Mineria
The new way is better.
New players will easyer understand what kind of skills that are used to.

They could change this and then maybe they could fix those darn rocks outside Kamadan that seem to be overlapping each other. SILLY ROCKS!
Honestly, this didn't really affect the game at all.

Honestly, this thread is far beyond pointless. Does this really affect gameplay? I think not. The game runs based on performance and efficiency.
Tender Wolf
Personally I don't care about this, I hardly ping it anyway. The only time I see anyone really ping it is runners saying they have Mind Freeze on them or cripple.

I dont care how they look, but I vote for the toggle

Why don't you tell them that when they were changing it in the first place.
as for the OP, /signed. I too was disheartened to see it changed.
