I would like the game to remember my status when I log out and then back in. If my status is AWAY, DO NOT DISTURB or even OFFLINE I would like the game to remember that and log me in that way again once I log back in.

You can just change it and it was just cause more problems if you forgot about it and were contantly AFK, no noe could even whisp you to let you know.
Appear offline would be good for anti social people like myself but not really worth implementing for guild wars.

/signed because a few people have decided they're my friends after I traded with them once, and now they will NOT leave me alone. I won't even respond, but they'll still have an entire one-sided conversation about nothing in particular while I'm trying to clear a dungeon. Sometimes I don't remember to set myself as Away until after one of them has PMed me, and by that point it's too late. I don't want to be nasty and tell them to piss off, and I don't want them to get the passive-aggressive "This player is ignoring you" thing. I just want them to think I'm not around to talk.
I don't want to be Offline or DND because I DO have friends in the game that I want to talk to. They already know to PM me anyway. :P

quite often i get pmed the second im on, and obviously thats because i can take a while t load, i dont always want to talk to people, sometimes i'm coming on for a few secs and then off again, or im doing somethign i dont want to be disturbed with. one example would be when im exchanging inventory items over a large group of charcters, its annoying to constantly click offline and sometimes you arent quick enough.
far simplier if the program recalled that you were last offline, as MSN Messenger does, and leaves you there

i set my self offline becuase i dont want ppl to pm me, i then have the need to change char, when i do, im set online again, so that person pms me :P .. then i have to reset myself offline, now it just looks like i am ingnoring him.

ANd thank you all that agree with me. It should be a simple thing for Anet to do to remember your status when you log out. I'm like several others, too many spam PM's as soon as I'm logging on even before I get to the picture screen I can hear them. There's just too many annoying lil brats in the game like the ones the disagree with this idea. I wouldn't put it past them to be those types.
