Really Annoying Icons Bug + Sound Bugging

I have two problems that i have experienced.

My first problem is:

• When i log into the game, and open my inventory, the first 2 bags' ( Backpack and Belt Pouch) icons are not there. Even worse, if i had been on a farming run the night before, none of the icons appear. It not only happens when i first log in, but yet still after 3 hours, and more, of gameplay. Help would be greatly appreciated for this one. The icons appear after around 10 seconds of waiting on the same bag... Quite annoying.

My second problem is less crucial to fix:

• When i press F11 and go into the Sound section of the options menu, and i click on the "Enable 3D Sound" option, every half a second my game jolts and It makes it impossible to play. I though it would be my graphics being up full which had caused this, but after much experimenting, I found it was my sound?! I am currently playing without the EAX or 3D sound.

My rig is:

• SB Audigy Platinum Pro ZS (Sound Card)
• Ati Radeon 9600 / X1050 Series (Graphics Card)

For the sound problems, try one of these:

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -sndwinmm

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -sndasio

"C:\Program Files\Guild Wars\gw.exe" -dsound

I don't quite get the icon glitch....you cannot open your inventory? Or just the icon doesn't show up?

The icons do show up eventually but it takes seconds.

And sometimes text for quests doesnt show up until a few seconds have gone

Pack a lunch so you don't starve while waiting.

I can't get EAX to work properly either. It's something that is brought up every now and then, but I've never seen a workable solution yet.

A couple possible causes:
1. Your client needs to download the icon textures before displaying them. Running -image should fix that.
2. Your system is too slow in yanking the icon textures off the hard drive and getting them to the video memory.
2a. If the HD is the bottleneck, defragging the gw.dat file with contig might help. (See also Power Defragmenter if command line utils scare you.)
2b. It may just be that your HD, bus, or video card is just too slow to load and display that many textures. In that case, a hardware upgrade is the only solution.

I tried the -image but to no avail. Any thoughts?

Defrag gw.dat using contig.

If that doesn't work, upgrade your hardware or accept that your system is too weak to process that much data and make it look instantaneous.
