In your opinion what does a derv contribute to a party or PUG? Or maybe in other terms, if you had to describe what this class does (generally speaking) what would you say to a person who has never even touched GW? I ask it because i find this class as a "gray" build, and to describe it is just as difficult. Warriors, Monks, Elementalists for the most part are black and white. Warriors tank, Monks heal, Eles nuke. (for the most part). As I start going through other classes, rangers, necs, mesmers the roles start becoming hodge podged, which isnt a bad thing. Even Paragons have a basic role...huge buffs both offense and defense to a party. Well what is it exactly Dervs do. Hypothetically speaking, if you were trying to lure someone to the Derv class what would you give as its strengths and weaknesses. Just curious. Thanks!

Dervishes attack and do damage. Or if you're in a pug, they stand there, get their enchants stripped, and then die.

Dervishes do damage, less single target than a D-Slash, but very nice AoE.

ps. warriors do not tank. no one tanks.

Welcome to GW, not every other MMO out there.

Dervs kill things, basically.
They've got the hardest-hitting weapon in the game, and you should use it for killing.

... Tanks are baed.

Dervishes are exceptionally good at crippling people, and they're good at inflicting huge blows. Their god avatars is what makes them special imho. There are no warriors that can remove hexes in a reliable way all by themselves, and melandrus gives you condition immunity. As for the rest, warrior > dervish imho.

Dervishes do damage, plain and simple, but also deliver utility and have staying power similar to warriors (but a bit different) without compromising damage.

Best way to describe class are iconic skills:

Victorious sweep.
Woulding Strike.
Cripling Sweep.
Imbue Health.
Ebon Dust Aura
(that ias enchant...)

you see damage and ability to help out by something else than damage when needed.

Dervs are relative to the warrior. While the warrior has a higher DPS on one target, Dervs have a much higher DPS on many targets. They are like your "battlepriest" type profession.
