I just started a mesmer and got it to level 20, my question is, what is a good mesmer build. I created the following build myself and it seem to work, I only have four elite skills, none of them is really good but atleast one does some dmg. My current build is as follows:
Fast Casting 10
Domination Magic 12
Inspiration Magic 11
(All 3 modified by using minor runes)
Energy Tap
Power Drain
Drain Enchantment
Empathy
Shatter Enchantment
Enchantment's Conundrum
Chaos Storm
Ether Feast
How does this look? I'm using an Illyana's Staff. Is this build any good or does it suck in term of PvE mesmer builds? Please help mate!

If you're using Enchanter's Conundrum, then try bringing Shatter Delusions or Drain Delusions so you'd have a better chance of getting the 102 damage.
Perhaps remove Chaos Storm? I believe the AI kites out of it.

I think its a pretty good build, its definately something I would use starting out. But I agree with horseradish (Lol xD) I would remove chaos storm for maybe power spike since enchant conundrum does slow spell casting time for enchantments. Or replace it with a Ressurection spell (2ndary monk).

And then save your templates. I play a mes a lot. She is runed up and has a number of greens per attribute. My template list is scary long but is the best toolbox ever.
I'll often step into what I call "rough neighborhood" explorable areas alone and see how long I last. I keep adjusting my build until it suits the foes I'm facing.
Mesmers are NOT tanks so I do always die BUT if I can last even a little while alone, I know that when I'm in a full party complete with healers, I'll be good to go.
I can go toe to toe with most Jades just using empathy and conjure nightmare and ether feast. When left to my own devices (usually when their are melee profs to draw the aggro) I just decimate.
I'm also a big proponent of leveraging your atts. I have runes in everything but Inspiration. So if I run a Dom build or an Illusion build I max out that attribute (usually 14,15,16). Mesmer's ignore armor (love that). So my energy surge does 98 dmg to all level of foe making it an excellent killing stroke.
Oh and gobble up mes skills whenever you can. You want all options available to you. If you ever want swap templates add Ashanya Tovolnaya (my mes) to your friends list and PM with "Mes from forum".

I recently created the next skill combination, what would you guys think about this? It seems to work, or should I use other health degen skills? These ones use the lowest energy.

Not worth bringing Illusion for CP/IoR. IF you'd go for Clumsiness (in the old state) that would be worth it. Dump Illusion and go full dom.

If you'd like a godly inspiration skill - go for Power Drain (again).
Backfire/Empathy are craptastic - but they work. So you might as well keep them (especially if you're gonna use Empathy as the trigger fro CoP).
Get Cry Of Pain. And try to get your hands on Hex Eater Vortex / Expel Hexes / E-Surge. It's quite fab!
Chaos Storm should cause foes to scatter - dump it. Shatter Hex (until you get HEV)/Shatter Ench in that spot.
And 14 is the breakpoint for E-Surge/Burn. So put your Illu points into Dom and bring it to 14.
Power Spike if you need a second interrupt.
Otherwise, hell no!

Glyph is great for high energy combos. Example (Arcane Echo/ meteor shower) But for energy management Inspiration is better in my opinion. You get the ability to Interrupt or enchantment strip and receive energy in return. It is a good deal.

I used to love Backfire but fell out of love with it because it only does damage and does not actually interrupt the caster. There are plenty of skills that do both.
My problem with chaos storm is that it is NOT sticky. Like with Ell aoe spell at location, foes can move away from it.
Lastly, you may want to trade up conjure phantasm for conjure nightmare. The cost was recently reduced and it has a higher health degen.
