Dwarves: Deldrimore, Stone Summit and GWEN.
Sleeper Service
Spoiler.
----------------------------------
So at the end of GWEN your Dwarven allies have ascended and become...something else. Thus ends the Dwarven race.
hold on, race ? From what i gathered it was possible to resist the call to change for a while at least.
And what about those Dwarves who sided with the bad guys? Im talking about the Stone Summit of course, did they also become changed? I dont think so...So was The Great Destroyer the end of the Deldrimore dwarves only? If so why are we being told that we cant play dwarven in GW2?
has this been talked about on the forums? if so sorry and link it up.
thx.

well we are already told the stone summit are in a decline due to the end of prophecies, what they where doing is slavers exile seemed to be their last hope of regaining power. I'm sure the stone deldrimor dwarves could finnish the job and any few remaining ones will eventually die of old age.

Yeah, all the remaining Stone Summit died in Slaver's Exile when we destroyed it.
That's it, no more of that nuisance.
so, all the Dwarfs have to change at some point into their stone forms thus ending the dwarven race.
But have we told that Dwarfs won't be a playable race in GW2? Surely we could play as the immortal stone ones, lol

Also somewhere it states that the Dredge take over the old dwarven cities. If the stone summit were still around they would have pounced on the cities the seconds the dwarves left.

The Dwarves that were needed at the time didnt change but the way they talked it seemed as if once their task was done they would also undergo the rite. Hence the end of the race.

And I believe its written somewhere on guildwiki about the dwarves in gw2; that the dwarves would now be immortal beings of stone and that they would remain sort of ''dormant'' and will still be there in gw2 but wont be more then barely moving stone.

Few lived to return to the surface and tell the tale of their victory—and those who did had been irrevocably altered. No longer made of flesh and bone, no blood pumped through their veins. Instead, they found their bodies composed entirely of stone surrounding nothing but cold, hard earth. No longer interested in maintaining their solidarity as a race, these last Dwarves scattered across Tyria, finding battles to fight in the deep caverns or making new homes in far-flung hills, ever-watching the borders where caverns emerge into the surface world. Those few individuals who can rightfully claim to have met a Dwarf in their lifetime are rare, and all speak of the strange, driven passion that consumes these few survivors. |

We of course won't be playing them as a race, but they certainly will play a key roll in the world of Tyria a few hundred years from current date.

Purely a whim, but I wish our character in GW2 would be dumb, not knowing what to expect (well unless you're an Asura =/), and then finding a stone dwarve would be all OMG OMG WOW.

There are fleshy dwarves, and the stone Deld ones. The summit ones are all fleshy, and very small #s.

The Dwarves are able to choose whether to transform or not.
If you recall, Ogden decided to remain a Dwarf for the time. At the end of GW:EN, in the epilogue area, the SF dwarves (Kilroy, Alkar, etc) also say that they still have much to do before considering giving up their dwarf-manity.
The Stone Summit also worship the Great Destroyer if I recall, or at least, they do not worship the Great Dwarf. This whole stone ritual thing is tied in with the Great Dwarf, so I doubt the Summit would side with him.
Not to mention, they're all still in Slaver's Exile.

Also, the Stone Dwarves' only purpose was to purge Tyria of Destroyers. When all the Destroyers go byebye, the Dwarves will be left without purpose in the world...it's kind of sad.
I hope that there is still a fair amount of fleshy dwarves in GW2 as they are no doubt one of the coolest races in all fantasy/RPG games. And, I hope, that they are keeping their kind alive (small villages of non-stone dwarves, families being raised, etc), and it is not just a few wanderers waiting for their time to pass.
