Tower Defense - Guild Wars Style

First thing's first: I have no illusions about how practical this might be, so don't rain on my parade. Second, I did not see this idea in the search bar, but I could be mistaken. Please don't hurt me if it's been suggested.
So, I was thinking the other day that GW would be an excellent engine to get some kind of Tower Defense mission going on. For those not in the know, Tower Defense at Wikipedia.
So, you'd have a whole mess of Charr running at your position each round. You could talk to a few NPCs who can sell you some Ashes, that when you drop them, they summon something acting as a turret. As your summoned "turrets" begin killing the oncoming Charr, you get experience, which you turn in for either more turrets or for upgrading the ones you already have placed.
What kind of NPCs would we want to use for turrets? I have a few ideas, but I'd love to get more suggestions.
Stuff I came up with:
- A Ranger with Crippling Shot, maybe upgrades to alternate Crip Shot and Barrage
- A Ranger trapper, who spams Viper's Nest and Snare, and maybe upgrades to add Flame Trap
- An Earth Elementalist packing Ward Against Foes and Churning Earth, maybe upgrades to do Earthquake
- A Water Elementalist - man, just spamming Water Trident would be mean for Tower Defense. Or maybe use Ice Spike or Deep Freeze?
- Mursaat Tower. Gotta have something really expensive that can spam something like Spectral Agony, right?
I've got a ton more, but I'll open the floor! What does everybody else think of my idea that will never happen?

This isn't a ingame suggestion, its somethign you could prog in your past time.
A version of tower defense using GW skill Icons and the summened stuff should be GW famous characters like heroes or storyline characters like Shiro and Togo.
Even a total code n00b could to it with the game making software around these days.

theres a bunch of random quests that involve stuff coming at your fixed location in waves already. You dont necesarily have special NPCs slowing them down but you usually get some random NPCs helping during such quests.

Haha, I'd love to see this in WC3. It doesn't fit in with GW though. You could make this happen in WC3 pretty easily, too.

But seriously, use some imagination.

As much as I love forms of tower defense, this does not go with guild wars.

Tower defense is a strategy game thing, not an MMO/RPG/FPS/Platformer thing.

I happern to quite like tower defence games and think GW's needs more minigames (sad when you need to play a game for a break in the grind of the game, while your playing the game in the first place for a break from lifes grinds)
Side note: theres wiki's for tower defence?

I think there are a lot of people that like this idea. It's a fun idea, but really it's easier to accomplish the other way around. Rather than seeking key features from other games for a side game in GW, wouldn't it be easier to load up that RTS WC3 and rename some buildings and have some fun doing it yourself too? Of course.
It's a new theme for an OS versus making an all new one.

I wouldn't have suggested if I didn't think the engine couldn't handle it with only minor tweaks. And yeah, I totally agree with JeniM... there aren't a lot of things you can do to kick back away from the grind that don't involve logging off.

Yeah well I'd be pretty happy if they removed polymock from the game, because that would mean they'd make the jade summon quest something that makes some sense to me.
