ok so im tryin a new character and wanted to go a different way. my first character was an ele/necro. loved em but got tired wanted something new. my new character is a ranger but i dont know what would be the best second profession. i chose elem but realized that takes lots of energy which the ranger doesn't have. any help on a good second prof. would be great.

try a monk for some quick self heals/condition/hex removals...or try warrior and try running with a bunny thumper build (hammer ranger/warrior) get the benefits of nice energy regen/expertise. Or /ritualist for the barrage/splinter builds or some such

also try looking here.... its the ranger forum

Ranger Ele works just fine for me, all I use the ele for is counjour fire then use a firy bowstring.
Rest of points into Marksmanship and Expertise.
Spell lasts 60 seconds so lack of energy doesnt really come into it.
You can use the same idea with the other conjours to vary damage type.

I started as a Ranger/Ritualist using spirits as extra ranged damage dealers 2 spirits plus me all firing at the same target was good for a while.
Then I tried Splinter weapon for the area damage but dont use it much any more.

Considered Necro/Dervish for holy damage as holy barrage sounded good havnt tried that yet.

Someone said some Asassin skills were good to boost arrow damage, as yet I havn't looked into that.

When I solo with the ranger I usually go Ranger/monk

If you play Prophecies, I'd recommend using a secondary that your have not used yet on prior characters to take advantage of the free skills that are rewarded from quests. THat way the skills are unlocked for your later characters and heros. If you have NF or Factions, then Gremlin gave good advice. I always /Mo as my default build, unless im running something special.
