if u happen to have one I really would like a PvE earth ele build without an elite (i really don't have the money to spend on elite tomes right now). If u do plz post it, if u have another build with an elite that is earth for PvE that's fine to post too

I currently have the prophecies, factions, nightfall, and eye of the north campaigns. I didn't really know it mattered but my ele was started in the factions campaign.

Way to not use the search function.

Please tell us which campaigns you own, and which campaign you are starting your elementalist in.

Since you've given us no information, I'm going to quote myself from another thread:

Could take a Res instead of Enfeebling Blood if you're going with humans and someone else has it, or you're taking Ward of Weakness.

Yes, it has less survivability, and it's not a build I've used in Hard Mode so I don't know how it would fare. [wiki]Unsteady Ground[/wiki] is, of course, a leet Earth Magic skill, and adds to the Knock-down fun.

Pure Earth builds sometimes seem a bit limited so if Party Support through Wards is more your bag might I suggest thinking about the Mind Blast Warder that's been floating about quite a bit. Could switch out the elite for [wiki]Dragon's Stomp[/wiki], or another AoE skill such as [wiki]Churning Earth[/wiki].

For attributes I think I use something like:
Earth Magic: 12 + 1 + rune
Curses: 8
Energy Storage: rest + 1

You can easily take out the Curses skill and fill it up with Earth Magic skills.

Try using that as some sort of template, create your own build with the skills you can access, and come back for advice.

I don't know how to get the pictures of skills up so here it is

1. earth attunement
2. ebon hawk
3. stoning
4. ash blast
5. stoning
6. glyph of lesser energy
7. eruption
8. churning earth
That's looking good, but I do have a few comments.

Firstly, you can't have two Stoning skills

Secondly, one of Earth Magic's great abilities is providing wards for party support. I would replace one of your Stonings with a ward, whichever ward seems most suitable for the area you're going to be fighting.

Thirdly, you can't always bank on Ebon Hark to provide the Weakness for your Stoning, hence my use of Enfeebling Blood. There is always the option of taking a few points out of Energy Storage and putting them in Air Magic and using [wiki]Enervating Charge[/wiki] for guaranteed Weakness, if your secondary profession is no use.

Finally, some people would say you should take a Resurrect skill. If you're playing with humans, you probably should, but Hero/Hench generally don't let you down, if you set your heroes up with workable builds, of course.

By the by, to make the skills appear as pictures read this thread if you're interested.

Sliver Armor Oh dear. It's either a mediocre farming build or a bad tanking build. For general PvE play there is no need to "tank".

As it ain't here yet, I'll put up a simple unsteady echo build.

I dub you, Echoing Rumble
Max earth magic and energy storage.
Use an earth headpiece and whatever runes you prefer.
[skill]Arcane Echo[/skill]
[skill]Unsteady Ground[/skill] should be used, but no elite so use [skill]Ward Against Melee[/skill] or [wiki]Snow Storm[/wiki] or [skill]Ward Against Foes[/skill] instead
[skill]Churning Earth[/skill]
[skill]Glyph of lesser Energy[/skill]
[skill]Eruption[/skill]
[skill]Aura of Restoration[/skill] or [skill]Glyph of restoration[/skill] or [skill]Ward against Elements[/skill]
[skill]Earth Attunement[/skill]
[skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill] or optional

It's simple to use, p00ns the heck out of the melee foes grouped around your Wammo that [skill=text]Sprint[/skill]s into foes or if he is the least bit useful he'll use [skill=text]Enraging Charge[/skill], the effect stays the same.
On top of that [skill=text]Eruption[/skill] will shutdown weapon based classes almost completely for 5-15 seconds.
Not to forget echo can be used on any spell, including ward spells, depending on the situation it is very diverse.

Just for the record: he is right. I switched from this to a fire ele build after i actually gained a few levels, and started to face real enemies.

I've always liked using

1,2) *Insert your 2 favorite earth aoe spells here
3) Dragon stomp
4) Shadow walk
5) Aftershock
6) Dash.

Maybe not too effective, but its really fun to dragon stomp and shadow in and out with aftershock.

eh I've been too lazy to develop earth builds since Nightfall. Since then when I needed some earth power I just bring Herta her main value to me is her wards and sandstorm.

Anyway I might suggest if your starting a Earth Build maybe look at her build first and change it up from there with skills that suit you.

I've run earth builds in the past and the problem has been the 5 second money aoes (eruption/Unsteady Ground) causing scatter. Granted in Hard mode mobs all fall down if you use Unsteady ground (with its pitiful adjacent AoE) but it still is a pain to deal with.

Any character can spam spirits and own him too....so everyone should turn all of their characters into spirit spammers.

Or hey, teams of 8 rip warriors.

And people thought sabway was good....they should see ripway.

how is this for a build?

shockwave
teinai's crystals
aftershock - (maybe swap it for crystal wave?)
ward against foes
stoneflesh aura
earth attunement
aura of restoration
res signet

or maybe add grasping earth in there somewhere?

havent tried it yet, just "made it up" a few minutes ago, i dont know about hard mode but in normal mode the clump up pretty much if you wait for them when they "patrol" then you can just charge in with the stonelfesh aura lay donw the ward and fire away.

any thoughts?

Snares aren't that useful in PvE.

Aura of Restoration is only useful as a cover enchant.

Shockwave is mediocre imo.

Teinai's Crystals and aftershock is PBAoE damage.

That's really the downfall of Earth Magic, PBAoE spells.

It would be awesome if the earth enchants could be cast on allies.

ok, i was also thinking of the cooldown of the spells, in that build there is 3 damage spells, all of which have 15+ sec cooldown in a fight, specially in the higher level areas they eneimes have more hp once i drop the 3 damage spells i have to wait for 15 sec for another round of damage
