It's my 21st birthday on December 31st. Not even I know where I'll be. Nor will I most likely remember.

Though this year, my gf will probably prefer that I was laying next to her, and slightly less drunk. Oh well. Still good times.

I won't be on at midnight, of course, I'll be with friends. Now at 3am local, which is when the first finale event would start up IIRC, I'll probably be around. I keep weird hours.

No.
Busy ensuring none of my friends drink and drive.

*sigh* my other half is out of town for NYE :S
So yes, it is possible I might end up online and game with my sister - who is in town for NYE and hates drunken revalry.

Possibly. Depends on what's happening at the moment, honestly. I may be out with friends again, who knows! Friends in-game, out of game, all still friends.

Festivities are overrated.
If you enjoy it, enjoy it. If you do not... don't. While losing something you think is important for a game is bad, there is no problem if you actually doesn't mind.
Of course, if you are a anti-social person, this may be a problem in itself, but this is a topic for another post...
Closing comments: Usually the ones who are quicker to say they "have a life" are the ones with less of it. I mean, if you have that large fulfilling life, what the hell are you doing posting on a game forum? "Life" is very time demanding.
P.P.S. This isn't aimed at anyone in particular.

Most likely husband and I will be playing GW, like usual. It's just another day/night for us.
As for playing GW at significant moments in their lives.... does playing when contractions were 10 minutes apart count?

I got nightfall last christmas and spent all day playing through it. My grandad was downstairs the whole time and I must have spoken to him for no more than 10 mins the whole day. He died in the summer and I just wish I'd spent more time with him that day, instead of getting my paragon to lvl 20.
Sorry to bring the mood down you kids. Just something to think about this holiday season. GW is always gonna be there. People arn't.

If there's an event, I'll be here for it. Otherwise, I'll probably go to bed since I'll have to be up for work.
dunky_g
i will not be on GW. End Of.

Again, no real change The only real difference is that on New Year's... I add some bubbly to the usual list of double whisky after double whisky. My liver hates me |

I'll most definitely be ingame. New Years is my least favourite night of the year to go for a drink as everywhere is busy and it's a nightmare to try get a bus home. You stand in the cold for hours trying to find a way home, not sure if you'll be making it at all. It's all so stressful which is not what you need when trying to enjoy a drink.
I'll be lying back in bed, nice and warm, probably with a whisky, playing GW. Last year I was on GW as new years reached and I didn't really notice as it's not something I care about. I'll probably be ingame when it goes from Christmas Eve to Christmas too. To be honest I'm pretty much always ingame regardless. fake world > real world.

Ok Ok! I own up! I’ve perhaps been highly irresponsible with my guildwars sessions, and on many occasions have been playing guild wars prior to University assessments =P. Also played gw over Oktoberfest =P, but that’s mainly cos I’m not much of a drinker. But I’ve only been playing GuildWars for 9 months so I’ve never actually had the opportunity to play it over NYE.
However, now that the holidays’ve started, guild wars seems by comparison, seems less… fun (prolly the procrastination that makes it enjoyable), and I’d prolly be sleeping, or watching the fireworks on the telly with friends this NYE.

Midnight is 2AM my time so I'll definately be in bed before the event starts. And I can't recall any times when a big thing has happened while I was on the game.

I love living in a timezone that is so far ahead of the other continents. Since I'm 18 hours ahead of you guys in the PST timezone, the plan so far for New Years is this:
Crash a party of some old school acquaintances that a couple of my friends got invited to, and are nagging me to go as well (although, supposedly we pay $20 for unlimited cocktails, so who can argue with that. Don't know how accurate that is). Stay up till 3 or 4 am and crash at a mate's house. Get home next day, probably around 10 or 11 am, spend some time with the family until 6pm when the first Wintersday finale event begins, and I'll jump on GW for that, and depending on whether I work the next day, I will probably try to make it to each event, just for kicks.
As to missing any important events, I have never done that and I never will. Despite the fact that my friends and me joke all the time about how addicted to GW I am, I do know when it's getting too much (except when there's uni involved. Procrastination is good for the health, and no one can convince me otherwise)

At church during my daughter's first communion, I was playing guild wars on my laptop.
I'm just kidding. I wouldn't ever go to church and I don't even have a daughter, as I was left at the altar apparently only because I was playing guild wars on my laptop.
