Basically, you want a good mid-range laptop. Not the bottom end Celeron/Turion with integrated graphics. It depends a lot upon what you can afford.
It's best to go with one that has an actual graphics chip (not "integrated graphics") and preferably it's own graphics RAM (not "shares main RAM"). Get 2 gigs of RAM.
If you're looking for actual models/prices, you can spend your own time doing that.

If you're going for gaming, the minimim spec's I'd recommend is a 2.0ghz core2duo and Nvidia 8600M-GT video card or better. My buddy picked up a Dell 15" Inspiron at outlet.dell.com for about $1000 even... talk about excellent deals.

If you live in europe i would recommend www.zepto.com.
Very good prices and they let you configure almost everything yourself.

lol I know about the graphics card. But I think you all are thinking that im looking for a gaming laptop. Thats not true I just want one that can run most games but it'll mainly be fore homework and stuff so it doesn't have to be one of those pro-gamers laptops

The only caveat shopping on Dell's outlet site is that you must refresh their laptop inventory page every few minutes and quickly jump at the system that meets your needs. If you wait too long, someone else will probably get your intended laptop.

I might try delloutlet but im not a big Dell fan and personally i prefer new and at a store

I prefer ordering new myself, but if I can shave off 30% from a $3000.00+ USD laptop, then I'll probably take the plunge. However, the models I buy are usually bleeding edge (like the M1730), and these are not as readily available from the Dell Outlet (usually have to wait 6+ months before they show up in there).
