I'm kind of tired playing spirits and "ranged" spells. My friends said I would be better off playing as a melee based char such as sin, der, war.
I'm wondering if anyone has a way to play a melee rit which works effectively against monsters such as jotuns, demons or djinns.

I was thinking something like rit/E,rit/D,rit/W But with poor energy management
however i need some IAS

rit skill
[skill]Spirit's Strength[/skill][skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill][skill]Sight beyond sight[/skill]

ele skill
[skill]Conjure Frost[/skill][skill]Swirling Aura[/skill][skill]Armor of Frost[/skill]or[skill]Frigid Armor[/skill]
weapons:
anything that gives cold dmg, +5 energy and 20% enchant
any off hand with 15/-1

0 WEAPON MASTERY

dervish skill
[skill]Mirage Cloak[/skill][skill]Conviction[/skill][skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill](or remove mirage cloak and add [skill]Armor of Sanctity[/skill][skill]Veil of Thorns[/skill])
weapons:
zealous .... of enchant with +5 energy.
any off hand with 15/-1

warrior skill
[skill]Riposte[/skill][skill]Deadly Riposte[/skill][skill]Bonetti's Defense[/skill][skill]"Watch Yourself!"[/skill]
weapons:
zealous sword of enchant with +5 energy
a tactics shield with -2 while enchant and +50 health

I cant think of any for assassins. reason:[skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] belong to the Main stats

note:
I often bring N/Rt battery heroes with splinter weapon

armour: full radient.... (weak tank)

I need a way to:
tank easily and provide high dps, energy friendly & less skill tapping

besides that,is it possible to vanquish hm with a melee rit along with heroes and hench?

If you want to melee with Spirit's Strengh, you need a melee secondary.

For instance:
[skill]Barbarous Slice[/skill][skill]gash[/skill][skill]sun and moon slash[/skill][skill]Jaizhenju Strike[/skill][skill]spirit's strength[/skill][skill]sight beyond sight[/skill][skill]Weapon of Aggression[/skill][skill]death pact signet[/skill]

I love Spirit Strength builds.

Rits have their own IAS now with Weapon of Aggression. Just spec enough in channeling so that you can recast it before it ends.

When I use Spirit's Strength builds, I usually go /R or /A. With Ranger secondary I usually run with Volley and Splinter Weapon, distracting shot and some other attack skill. With /A I run a three skill attack chain and Ancestor's Rage at the end, makes for a nice spike.

Rit/W sucks. -40 armor compared to a regular Warrior is bad.

Weapon of Aggression is a great IAS.

For secondary, /P /R & /A are my picks, but Dervish can work too.

I like to use /A, bringing along Weapon of Aggression, Warmonger's Weapon and Splinter weapon and using each as the situation calls for. I started out using Sight beyond Sight but recently began using Wielder's Remedy, since I swap weapon spells so often. Pop Rage as often as possible and watch the numbers fly.
Unfortunately this build is very weak defensively, forcing me to spec into Shadow Arts for survivability.

I love going Rit/Para.

7+1 Resto
7+1 Communing/Channeling (note: the plus 1 doesn't make a difference if you go with Channeling, so use a different rune.)
11+1+3 Spawning
10 Spear Mastery

Spirit's Strength
Vital Weapon/WoA
Wielder's Boon
Sight Beyond Sight / "I Am the Strongest!"
Swift Javelin
Wearying Spear
Merciless Spear
Death Pact Sig / Res Sig

Template Code: OAmkAehH5WqDyeeGPV24bI8QO5C

Use a shield of enchanting/fort with a -2dmg while enchanted mod. Spear can be enchanting/fort, with a 15^50 mod. Armor can be a mix of survivor/radiant/Ghost Forge.

[skill]Spirit's Strength[/skill][skill]Golden Fox Strike[/skill][wiki]Golden Fang Strike[/wiki][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Golden Lotus Strike[/skill][wiki]Weapon of Aggression[/wiki] [wiki]Great Dwarf Armor[/wiki][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

You'll need Zealous Daggers. Use Golden Fox ==> Golden Fang ==> Death Blossom to spike for around 250-300 damage and Deep Wound, Golden Lotus Strike to recharge energy.

And why Radiant? That has got to be the most useless Insignia for every class besides Necros, and it only serves to lower your health. Go full Survivors, you will be needing it if you go melee so you don't become a priority target, and if you ever decide to PvP. Unless you want to lug 20 armor pieces, that is.

Nah, for spirit's strength builds, ghost forge insignias (+15 AL under a weapon spell) start to look really good.

The problem with Ghost Forge is every month or so, ANet introduces a bug into the game that causes Ghost Forge Insignias to go from +15 AL while under a weapon spell to +15 AL while affected by a chant. Which is really useless.
If you don't mind shelling out 2-3k to buy new insignias every month, then go ahead and take them. But I won't.

I use Ghost Forge insignia since my skill bar always have weapon spell of some sort. The bug mentioned had not occurred to me for months. And I only use 3 Ghost Forge insignias on critical body parts.

Of course, there is an argument which is better: higher HP or higher armor. Personally, I go with higher armor, it proves more useful when attacked by 2 or more attackers.

And, among spirit strenght builds, I always prefer to pull skill from paragon or ranger as secondary. If I go melee, I use sin as secondary.

In PVE, Im wary of being melee rit when Im in a group of real people player especially when there are two or more melee chars in the party. Also, not many players understand how valuable a Ritualist is in a group, let alone a melee rit.

In PVP arena, melee rit suffers from a so-so defense and the meta-games seems to have little or no room for such builds.

I have all ten professions. Of these, I love Ritualist and Ranger best, in that order. Ritualists for the "varied roles" it can play, Rangers for the "varied builds" you can make.

Point is, Rits can heal like monks, damaged like Eles, and go melee as wars but we must keep in mind, we can never outdo these professions. We can do them for fun and for a certain degree for competitions, but to expect we can better them would really lead us disappointed with our ritualist char.

Our strenght lies that we can play 2 or 3 roles ALL AT THE SAME with very little problem. That's why I love my rit.

My take.

I might be wrong with the skill names but there all unblockable.

Golden fox strike, wild strike, and nine tails strike with spirit strength can do some hefty damage, bring sight beyond sight and you can just keep pounding away at stuff, good fun.

As long as you're playing NM PvE, you can do whatever you want...
Just run Spirit's Strength + Death Blossom.
Or just run Moebius + Death Blossom. But with Splinter or something so you might suck just a little bit compared to a regular Crit Defense/Agility Death Blossom.
