I remember last year (it was my first wintersday) someone was asking how to get coal. I didn't know about that quest at the time so I told him to go to the Rare Material Trader. Looking back I feel kind of bad. I think he was a genuine newbie and I probably got him all confused.
And yeah, it's a holiday event. What else do you expect? Nobody actually takes the time to read sites like Guru or wiki. Pssh

Nothing wrong with that. Everyone has to start somewhere. I shouted "where do i get coal" first time around. Just turn off local chat which mine usually has been even before events in any major city. Also kudos to ppl who help them.

I only play guildwars for slightly over 1 year now and I remember last year's wintersday pretty well(my first ever GW event).
I had no clue on how to get all that junk, never heard of wiki before, until some very kind stranger answered my question(omg where to get teh coalzz?) and gave me the link to wiki. A whole new world opened to me back then.
So during events like these, I think back at how I was last year, during my first ever wintersday. I will try my best to help out new guildwars players, about to enjoy there first ever guildwars event.

I may be bothered by people who weren't around the last 2 wintersdays. I may have to *gulp* answer a question! MY first wintersday - and Halloween, too - I knew everything there was to know about them. Why, oh WHY, don't the new players know all this stuff already? *sniffle* And WORST OF ALL, I can't enjoy watching the trade chat scroll by because it's getting drowned out by local chat! I'm gonna go hold my breath until they stop!

My problem with these spammers is: this year, eveyone in the game has F10, /help, /wiki, and /wiki coal,etc. at their disposal. I'm not sure they know about it, however. The "Local" checkbox still works, so that shuts them up, too.

2 year guild wars player but this is my first wintersday for me so go ahead and call me a noob, whatever. I would love to use the official wiki but the wintersday 2007 page still being updated with new content. So until the wiki is 100%, people like me are still going to ask questions. It would be nice if anet made sure the wiki page was 100% before the event but I guess that's a bit too much to ask.

They ask for help (I don't think they ever realize how often their question is asked)
When I direct them to source of information (http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Main_Page) they have no idea how that is going to help them.
They usually cuss at me. Are they really expecting me to search for answers and copy-paste them to that small chat space for them?
