No, everyone in the district gets the hat of the God that won in that district.
Of course, to be a little more sure you get the Hat you want, afk on one of the rings in a district. If the same agreements of last year still go, an odd numbered District is Grenth, and even numbered district is Dwayna's.

Well last year my assassin warped in LA just as dwayna announced she was leaving. I was sure i didn't get a hat, but i checked later and sure enough, i had the super cool (*cough*) stylish yule cap

Not given in EotN, you get the quest from the Rift Warden (same goes for Straight to the Heart) who is located in Kamadan, Droknar, Lion's Arch and Ascalon. You need EotN for him to give you the quests.

No. Afk in a district (odd = Grenth, Even = Dwayna) and turn your computer screen off (saves power). You'll get 1 hat. You can also leave your computer running at night in a different district to get the other.

The Ice Crown is epic and fairly well-done compared to that Scarecrow atrocity from Halloween. I like the Nordic king head of hair it sorta gives you.

I happen to both hats, this is my first event and I do wish i could have a Santa hat. I didn't own GW last year or the year before, so I'll live.

I like the prince Valiant hair on the Ice Crown and I think the other hat looks like "The Ghost of Christmas Present" (or perhaps something out of "A Midsummer's Night's Dream").

They haven't said anything official about extending Wintersday. However, the Wintersday stuff is still up and available to play with. Quests, snowball fighting, etc. It will prolly stay through the weekend.

the ending of wintersday without notice is b.s.!!!!!! i had just ended the mission with grenth and had just loaded into the city..and i wanted to turn in my candy cane shards so i start running to the npc to trade in my c.c.shards and i look and see that the message "new build blah blah blah" came up...i turn around and all the wintersday npc's are gone!!! now i cant turn in my candy cane shards! cant they at least put back the wintersday gift giver npc?!!!!!!!!!

if they are to end wintersday (without giving previous notice of end time) why not get rid of everything? (which i dont want!) grrrrrrrrrrrrrr

why not extend it like they did before?? was it last year or the year before that it was extended till jan 11th?

i want wintersday back for at least another day...allow everyone the chance to wrap up what they havent finished!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not everybody followed the guidelines, I arrived in an even dist to get the Dwayna hat after getting the Grenth one in odd and most of the peeps were standing on Grenth.

I got the hell outa there, cause it was obvious they weren't gonna move. iirc it was LA d6 in fact.

They must have seen you were afk and decided to do Grenth in even

RTS awesome guide man! made questing easy and quick; a thanks to those who contributed also!

I'm onboard with those who say it is BS that they pulled NPCs with out giving any notice or an offical time. To highlight it I'm questioning if there will be a wintersday 08 in GW with the release of GW2 due for next winter.

All the same I was happy with the 12 Days of Winter that we were giving as it allowed me a chance to actually take part in the quest and gain a few shard drops here and there.

Though the development of being able to simply buy the festival hat from the maker makes me wonder why I put up with the massive lag standing in a town that was being spamed with stupidity for an hour; when I could have been questing and getting more shards in that time (lag and spam free might I add).

if we have confermation on there being an event planed for next year, can I see it?

Wintersday turned out to be a blast for me (for the third time). I got tons of sugary snacks and some wonderful booze. However, I was rather disappointed when I heard about the mini polar bear. It was a neat little addition, but there was no warning.

I read what Gaile wrote and I quote, "As for warning: The team designed not to announce the presence of this new miniature, but let it be discovered, just as we did for the Ghostly Hero and Mini Mallyx. That's why we didn't give warning."

This is quite a reasonable explanation, though there is a flaw. The Ghostly Hero and Mallyx miniatures were included in HA chests and Coffers of Whispers, respectively, which are available all year. The mini polar bear, on the other hand, was included in this year's Wintersday, which only comes once a year.

Yes, I understand what Gaile said. This isn't a complaint or anything. I just wanted to get that out.

Yes, I can't remember when the event ended last year, but I certainly didn't get stuck with several cc shards. In fact I have never been stuck with any event tokens until now. There has always been a place to turn them in after an event has ended.

For the life of me, I can't figure out any reason why to not bring back the gift-giver.
- the stuff inside the gifts help with the titles (beverages & sweets)
- the stuff inside the gifts take up lots of storage space making useful those extra storage slots people bought when getting the BMP
- bringing the gift-giver back makes fans happy

If anyone can come up with some reason why Anet would see more value in not bringing back the gift giver, please enlighten me.

I agree.
I mean, how many Polar bear mini's are out there after all this is over? 5? 50? This thing is probably so incredibly rare, noone could afford it. Letting people discover a rare mini in an event that already has LOTS of activities, both PvE and PvP, and is only there for 2 weeks max is NOT a smart move imo. It's just unfair. Have the mini drop all year from the secret snowmen lair I say!

we've never locked any of the past ones, you could bump them right now if you wanted to. we've just never had a problem with it to really need to lock them everytime. its really only been like a week, give it time and people will stop posting in this....
