I gave 50k to some random in Shing Jea once. That was because the people in local said I'd never do it...my competitive nature comes out lol
But I reguarly clean out my mules by donating everything on them to my guildies/alliance friends. Some of the golds are actually worth more than merchant fodder as well.
Nicest thing ever done for me? Probably when some guy took me Over The Wall in pre-searing to show me how it's done.

They sit in shing jea all day and find a new factions player... ask him if he got the collectors edition and there like "hey, ill give you 2 platinum for that silly dragon toy you got" scamming them out of 98k. Everyone that plays this game is a fhukking asshole, cept me. im like jesus. |

The last time I told someone to type /wiki to help him with finding an elite skill he flamed me for not just telling him where to cap it (like I or anyone should really know where to get every elite)
That was in alliance chat too. I play the game with all and trade chat off most of the time.
I should start telling people that alt-f4 = god mode too or some other stupid thing.
Or maybe grieve in PVE pugs on my monk by playing a mending bonder or 55 smite monk. Time to spread some holiday blues :-)

Whenever I make a new character I always have them get ran to SC/desert area/droknars/ascalon and such. and what I always do is save random gold drops that I get that I don't need.. and feel that they'r too 'precious' to send to the merchant so I save them all up.. and when I get on my newly created characters I carry them on those characters.. so while i'm getting a run I always talk with the other people getting ran and ask questions about how long they been playing gw and the such and if they tend to be having crappy weapons (imo. i guess.. haha) I offer them a weapon (of course saying that I have something that works for their profession).
Now.. I guess it's kinda weird.. because these other people obviously have money for a run.. so they must have money for atleast a decent weapon.. I guess.. but it's still nice to give.
Also.. if I'm doing some of the low missions in ascalon while i'm level 15 or whatever I always try to join partys with the lower levels and help them thru the mission ask them questions and offer weapons if needed. :P
Just something I always did.. and will continue doing.
/Edit.. I totally wrote like a life-story here.. Haha..

When I was playing a struggling mesmer, a bored Warrior took me from the northern wall in Ascalon all the way through the game to Beacons, complete with Mission/Bonus for everything.
In return, I occasionally do the Ascalon run myself. I also give away armor materals/my noob greens, answer questions with something other than "try /wiki", help with quests, etc. I also never charge for dock ferries. Tips are always welcome, and I've been surprised a few times by the generosity of other players, but it's not like I'm doing anything that takes skill.

Last year I stayed up to get every mini pig possible just so I could go and give them all away to people who couldn't get them :3 I've also given away atleast 500K worth of money and items. I remember once some guy asked for 7k I gave it to him and right then he gave me 8k back o.o Apparently I won one of his challenges o.o Because I offered money no questions asked I won 1k. I was so confused but I was happy none the less :3

When I got legendary skill hunter a guy asked for my help to get some obscure elite in Perdition Rock. We went, capped it and then this guy kept asking for help every single red engine day, until I put him in my ignore list.
I don't help strangers a lot, for this very reason. You do something nice once and they keep asking for more and more and more like we know each others from years ago.
I wasn't supposed to do anything in the first place, just say thank you and leave me alone.
