New to farming

I've been reading this forum for awhile now and am looking to start farming for real. I just made it to the Crystal Desert and am getting ready to try ascending. So I cant do HM just yet. I've been clearing Anvil Rock solo (minotaurs and centaurs) steady for the last couple weeks for hides, manes, loot and the occasional mid level dye. Running lvl20 W/Ele.

Any advise, pointers, locations?

what campaigns (prophecies, factions, nightfall,eye of the north) are on your account?

This would help us a lot to give you advice

Normal mode drops aren't worth the time, espically since recent nerfs unless your going for collectable drops.

Finish the campaign before you start farming, hardmode is needed.

I was one of those "new" players that took advantage of the GWEN event earlier this month. I went in at lvl 15 and made 20 while completing the Norn Primary quests.

Yes, I've been farming the collector items and selling those, though the time spent selling has been a bit tedious. I've been clearing 10k in an afternoon including the merch fodder. I know this isn't on the same scale that most of you even consider worthwhile, but for someone who has only had the game since just before Thanksgiving, it's a start.

I'm just looking to expand a bit. Entertain some new ideas.

hmm 10k in a aftanoon not bad 4 sum1 hus only been playing a couple of months
hmm iv been playing 4 a year ges my first 20k waz about 6months afta i startd from victory tokens. well that weekend i shot from 10k to 200k god knows how,, i dont

I am not asking for locations. I was just asking for advise and pointers or what to look for in a location. Like when they nerf a good spot, what do you look for when looking for a new one. What I'm doing now is netting me about 2-3k per run and takes about 30-40 mins per. I'll try selling the collectibles for about 1/2 hour or so then merch the rest and run a quest then repeat the run. I do this on the week nights and further the storyline on the weekends.

I don't really need the smart-axx'ed remarks. Those are about as useful as the "Where's the best" threads. I'm just asking what to look for to find my own "plots".

best thing to look for for yourself...is some place that has low traffic...pick an area with minimal people playing in it at any given time...pick out a specific route that you want to take to farm...adjust your build to make it possible...don't worry if you need to add on or 2 heros...any more than that and i wouldn't do it...mainly you want something easy...and stress free...although for alot of people the stress is part of the fun or farming...i would definetly suggest finishing the campaign...to open up hardmode...then worry about farming after that..but take notes of where there are few people...be warned tho that if very few people are "farming" a place...there is usually a reason...either to hard/notworthit/whathave you....but who knows maybe you will be the new Witte Was, dont feel no pain, FuzzyTaco or Racthoh....and come up with that ultra new build for an Elite area

I am planning to finish Prophesies with in the next couple of weeks, but this char is the "breadwinner" of my account and is supporting my other accounts with gold and weps. Thats why I "farm" through the week and work on the campaign on weekends. Though, here in a week or 2 he'll have a bit of help from my Factions char.

If what you are trying to do is make gold... and UNTIL you beat the game and get HM, I advise you to take advantage of Wintersday. Farm what's needed for booze : Singed Gargoyle Skulls and Stormy Eyes. You can sell each for 150-200, or you can trade them for SPIKED Egg Nog ( much stronger than regular egg nog) and sell it later, when people run out of liquor. I usually have no problem selling Spiked Nogs for 500gp ea, but I have to wait a bit.

You can get stormy eyes in Pockamar Flats, and Skulls in Diessa Lowlands.
