This is just a general thought, so here goes:
I really like the concept of weapon spells, but there are a few things that bug me about the current implementation:
1. They change your weapon model, and while that's not horrible, the weapon model that you get is rather ugly and there's only 1. I would like to see the weapon model either changed to be cooler looking, more subtle, (like your weapon just glows a little), or have a diversity of models.
2. This may hold true for most skill lines, but the range of good weapon spells to less-used ones is too great. They should all be in the same ballpark when it comes to effectiveness. Don't make it where I'm really only caring about nightmare weapon or splinter weapon - give me more and better options.
3. Lastly, (and this is where the suggestion comes in), allow weapon spells to in some ways duplicate current weapon mods. I believe there is already a weapon mod that adds a sundering component, and nightmare weapon is sort of like a vampiric mod, but what about elemental damage weapon spells, a zealous weapon spell, etc?
*Note - now that I think about it, there is a weapon spell that acts like a fortitude mod, and I think there's one that grants additional armor...

Unfortunately with no new games their won't be new skills. I don't see ANet adding skills to the game just for the hell of it.

I agree that they should not change the weapon skin entirely. They're downright ugly. A glowing effect would be far more acceptable.
